Anyone done the blood test in Mexico??

Does anyone know what they actually test for? I know the sites all say HIV and they want to find out what the blood type is but I've seen multiple sites say "other STDs". What other STDs are they testing for? I asked my Dr about that and she said HIV is really the only STD you can test for using blood. Anyone know?

I haven't been down for my wedding yet - but I'm not too nervous about the blood test. I'm sure that if it was awful, we'd all have heard about it from brides on the forum who have had their weddings! Considering I haven't read one bad comment, I think it'll be all good!!

 

I was wondering what STDs they were looking for as well. I'd assume it's just HIV, because like your doctor said, I'm pretty sure they really can't test for anything else through blood.

I am pretty sure they give you an HIV test, an RPR (which is a test for Syphilis) and do blood typing on both bride and groom.

Dear Tracy,
You dont feel nervous, is very easy, just check that the material that she/he will use will be close before you use it.
Anyway, you need to do that, in USA is the same, right??

Hi all, I thought I'd share what my wedding planner wrote me yesterday,

 

"Hi Tara, we need to do the blood tests here in Isla, you will be tested for STD (gonorrea and sifilis but not HIV, at this time if the requirements change I will let you know), it is ONLY a blood tests no vaginal.

 

Women are also tested for Rubeolla."

I just received the requirements for a wedding in Mexico from my TA.  It said that the blood work had to be done 15 days prior to the wedding. Does anyone know if this is true? I cannot imagine that everyone on here is going to Mexico two weeks before the wedding to have this done??  We really, really want to have a real ceremony while there so I hope this is not true.

From my understanding you cannot have the bloods done no earlier than 15 days before your wedding (most resorts say no earlier than 7 days before). When you arrive at your resort your WC will arrange for the doctor to come to your room the next morning, usually around 8am as you have to have an empty stomcach and they will take the blood and get the results back within 24 hours.

You only need to be in Mexico for 4 working days prior to the wedding day (not including holidays) so that they can do the blood tests etc... I can't believe that your travel company are being truthful - is this the way in which they make sure that people book for longer with them? Very crafty - but none of the travel companies that I have spoken to, or the legal information online, says anything more than 4 days! (Hope this helps...)

 

I have been worrying about the blood tests - STD's? Which ones? Has anyone been and done it, and know what they test for? I thought that part of the testing was to make sure that you weren't related? (I know that sounds silly but there were storied=s about people hopping to Mexico to marry their cousins!)

 

If anyone has any more info on the blood tests please can you let me know!
