Train or no train?

Recommended Posts

Your dress isn't too formal for the beach. You're the bride and you get to decide what makes you feel wonderful! And that goes for deciding whether to have a train or not. I haven't worn mine yet, but I'm pretty sure that I won't care if it drags in the sand or else I will just bustle it!

I was also worried about a long train being too heavy and a PITA on the beach so I had it shortened to like a 1-2 foot long train and I really liked that. Was just enough to drag a little when I walked down the aisle and also to take some cute pictures from the back (i.e. flowers on the train, etc)

I personally am not a big fan of bustles, but it's totally up to you whether you like the look or not! Some dresses look more natural bustled than others.

Thanks for all the advice everyone :)

Sunbride - I love your dress and your pictures.. You look so beautiful.. And I think that length train will be perfect :) Is yours "sweep train" or shorter?? What material is your dress? I really love your dress :)

Can I ask you also what material is your husband's suit? It goes really well..

My dress is very plain and doesn't have a train and just recently I decided I wanted one....so I went shopping and ended up with a big puffy dress with a train that I now think is too big. So I'm stuck again. I think I will wear my original dress for the ceremony and reception because it's very light and sooo comfortable, and then wear the big heavy one for my TTD...at least I'll look like a bride in some of the pictures...

I understand what you mean about "not looking like a bride." I would recommend getting a short train and that way you will FEEL like a bride...you can always bustle it! In the end you have to be comfortable and I'm sure it will be beautiful either way! Good luck :)

I was worried about a train too but after thinking about it I realized that this is pretty much the 1 and only time I can get away with a long train. My dress is casablanca 1900 so the train is all lace and will get covered in sand but I am going for the more casual vibe so no big deal. If your still confused at least meet in the middle with a short train.
