Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi TropicLover!

I see that you are getting married at the Ocean Turquesa in May 2012. I am currently checking the availablity for May 2012 at this resort for my wedding!  I have been having such a hard time picking a resort!!!  Do you know anybody who has stayed there before? I really don't know much about the Peurto Morales area. I am more familiar with Playa Del Carmen and was looking at Sandos Playacar resort for my wedding.

Thank you AnaS!  The pictures finally appeared!  Those are great photos and I love the different angles.

That's good to hear that you were treated very well as a regular guest.  I just recieved the upgraded pricing to stay as Privellege eek.gif and I'm thinking we might just go the regular route.  It really depends on how many people book through our TA.  I never thought we'd have so much difficulty getting our guests to book with our TA, but people want to find a deal so many are waiting until the fall.  I realize we can't force people to book with the TA (lol although a part of me wants to haha)...it's just frustrating not knowing the total number of people.

When I was there last time, I did not stay as privilege member and had a great experience. The advantage of being a privilege member in my opinion is the bottled wine option at dinner. I personally did not like the house wine which is available for the regular guests. (but this may be a matter of taste). The little beach area which is exclusive for privilege members is pretty nice too, but you can have a great experienec at OCT even without access to it. I believe most of my guests will be regular members too and this is why we wanted to stay as regular guests rather than privilege guests.

There was no problem with going to the restaurants. We did not make reservations and were seated immediately without any wait. Food is good. We only stayed one day at OCT during our visit last time and only ate at the italian restaurant. Hope to have more insight after I go back in the fall.

See below a few pictures that we took of the terrace:

On another note, I loved the lounge area where they play music till about 1am in the morning every night. It is good to konw that exists, if you are not aware of it. It has a bar right there and I think it is a great place to end the wedding or have a little welcome gathering the night before. see a picture of it:

I did boarding passes STDs as well and I love them (my DIY project) and plan on doing passport invitations on my own as well.

Happy Planning!

I am actually going with a room block through the resort. Prices that I got from them were much lower than what my TA quoted for me. The good thing is that you can cancel the block at some point in time without penalties, so that takes care of not knowing how many guests will be coming but the negative is that the deposit is pretty high to actually block the rooms.

AnaS, these pictures are great! Are these pictures of the lobby terrace? Did you happen to take any pictures of the beach location for a ceremony? Also, do you remember or know what the name of the lounge area is that you included a picture of. I'm so happy to hear that there is somewhere to stay up late, as that was my one concern with what I've heard about the lack of nightlife at this resort. I'd love to book our welcome reception there!

Thanks!

@TropicLover, just wondering if you are planning a Symbolic or Civil Ceremony at OCT? If you're doing a Symoblic, have you found anyone to do the legal stuff back in Vancouver? We're planning a Symbolic and then to do the legal portion when we get home after Mexico. I want the first time we say our vows to be in front of all of our family and friends.

Thanks!

@AwayWeGo, we're doing the same thing!  Symbolic in Mexico and Legal back home...although we haven't sorted out if we'll do it before or after the wedding.  April 30th is our "anniversary" so we thought it might be neat to do it on that day (even though it's a Monday).  I do however like the idea of having Mexico being the first place where we say our vows.

There's a thread on here somewhere about at home legal weddings (I just can't seem to find it).  On there I remember reading that you litterally go to London Drugs and pay for the legal paperwork ($50 or something).  Then you bring that paperwork with you to the legal wedding, say your vows, sign the paper and poof you're marriedwoot.gifI heard it costs $75 - 100 to book the minister.  We haven't found anyone yet, but I'll let you know when we do.

@Wedding4Mexico, yes May 11, 2012 is the big day.  I replied to your PM earlier today, did you receive it okay?

The only people I know who have been to the resort are on this thread ;-)  Actually I'm wrong, when we were looking for a new apartment I was in touch with a Landlord who had just come back from Mexico.  Being in the process of selecting a hotel for our wedding I asked him where he stayed and he said the OCT, lol.  He raaved about how great it was.  He was a big man so he kept going on about the crepes and the little cakes they put out in the evening at the coffee shop, haha.  Aparently he and his wife travel there every year.  Very nice guy, but we didn't end up renting the apartment through him :-)

@AwayWeGo:

Yeah, pictures are of one area of the lobby terrace. there are 2 of them, but very similar.

Here is a picture of the beach area for the wedding. My only concern about that place is that on the right hand side of the wedding place, as you look to the ocean, there was some ugly fence and house. Unfortunately I did not take a good picture of that since I knew I was not going to get married there, but when I go next time I will take a picture and post it here. You can see a little bit of what I am saying on the right of the picture. I guess with good decorations people will not notice that though.

I think the lounge area is called "The lounge area" :). It is at the bottom of the lobby terrace on the side where those stairs come down (there is a picture posted by another bride here with that area). It is really really nice. We spent our evening there and enjoyed it very much with some margaritas while listening to mexican music. Other people were dancing.

There is also a sports bar that is open till 6am and it has a disco area where people can dance. When we went there the place was quite quiet but I assume when you go with a bunch of people you can have a good time and get the DJ to play some dancing music.

Happy Planning!

Hello Everyone.

I am getting married at OCT on Nov 30/11 coming very quickly. Just had a question about if any one has heard where is a better choice for the a la carte meal. We are doingthis for our reception between the Caribean and the mexican a la carte.

Good luck planning your weddings.

Thanks Kristen.
