Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

  • 3 weeks later...

Me and my husband just got back from our wedding at Ocean Coral & Turquesa.. Ana and Alexis are great, but there was a couple things I got very irritated about. We arrived to the resort and had our meeting with Ana and picked out colors of bows and flowers (Hot Pink, because my wedding dress had a hot pink sash on it) and the set up was absolutely beautiful. During the meeting we picked the songs we wanted also, and the music was great. However, I had some emails with the photo shop before we left, and they told me they could go ahead and take pics without me pre-ordering a package, and we could choose whatever pics we wanted when our wedding was over. The day of the wedding they were changing prices, and said they couldn't take pics before we got a package because they didn't want to spend their time taking pics and take the chance of us not buying a whole bunch. I only wanted a photographer during the ceremony, not getting ready before or after or anything and they said they could not do that. I didn't have a chance to print the emails out before we left with photo prices, so I highly recommend if you want them then you should print out the email prices they give you!! Also, our wedding was at 3pm so we requested to have my flowers by 1pm so we could take family pictures before the wedding. After 10 phone calls that day we finally recieved my flowers at 3:05! Therefore, we had no time to take pics, and we started our ceremony late. I did tell them I wanted no flower in my hair to begin with, and when I was getting my hair done (which looked awesome) I decided I did want a flower, Ana was not there the day of my wedding so I called Alexis and asked her if we could go ahead and add a flower and still get them on time (If it would have made my flowers later I wouldn't have gotten one), and she said of course..So I was irritated my flowers were 2 hours late.Alexis works very hard at her job though, and does a great job! The flowers are brought to the resort by a flower company.Overall, the wedding was beautiful, the location was perfect, we were in room 17208 and our balcony was overlooking our setup so that was really neat. We will definitely be visiting the resort within the next year, it was amazing, grounds are great, the staff is absolutely wonderful. We will be using Ocean coral & turquesa on any trip we take to Riviera Maya without any questions asked!! Hope you have a wonderful wedding, If I can get some pics to upload I will put them on here for you. =)

Congrats Chelsea!!! I cannot wait to see your pictures! I am glad you have an amazing time aside from the problem with the photographer and flowers.

Was there enough "nightlife" at the resort to keep everyone entertained every night?

Also, how was the seaweed on the beach?

There is a few pics that we have got downloaded. During the actual ceremony they used my camera and we cant get it to hook up to our computer right now for some reason, so ill post those later.. the seaweed wasn't that bad, there is a tractor that comes along every hour or so to pick it up along the beach, there is quite a bit in the water though but it never really bothered us.. They have some kind of entertainment every night in the theatre, one night it was a comical type thing and one night they had a broadway play.. we didnt ever really go in the theatre but we walked past it a couple nights to stop and watch for a little bit. the pool bar usually stays open late, so you can hang out there and get drinks all night, and also the sports bar is open late..  the first night we got there they had a whole bunch of vendors lined up selling things and a couple guys painting so that was really neat, but the things we bought there we found a couple days later way cheaper at the shops we went to.. They also had what they called an "American Carnival" one night.. it was more for little kids, bowling with coconuts, and horseshoes and that kind of thing, all the workers there wore jeans and cowboy hats instead of their tan pants and white shirts.. and they had a Mexican Pow Wow one night and that was really neat to watch also.. And the night before we left they had Karaoke in the lobby.. that was fun and interesting to watch! We stayed 7 nights/8 days and never got bored, the resort is so big and very nice.. they try to save electricity so they have motion detectors in all the rooms, and if you are out of the room for like 20 or 30 minutes it shuts off all the electricity.. so all night long we were waking up having to move around so the fan would turn back on. and we had the Royal Master Suite, so we had a living room and a bedroom, so I would plug my camera charger in to charge overnight in the living room and wake up and my battery was still not charged, so then I realized not just the lights go off, but the entire electricity so it wasnt charging my camera overnight. But I just plugged it in the bedroom and then it worked fine since we were waking up alot to wave our arms and turn the fan back on, so it was also turning the outlet back on.. If you stay in the Master or Royal Master suite you will have a butler named Christian, and he is awesome. If there is anything you need or want, you just call him and he gets it done right away...

WOW! Your pictures are beautiful and you look AMAZING!

Thank you so much for sharing your review. We're getting married at OCT on December 14, 2011 and I find your comments really useful (especially regarding the electricity, photographer, etc.). Definitely handy to know before we leave. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I know a few people personally that have been to that resort and they really enjoyed it.

This forum for OCT is a lot calmer than the others.  I'm waiting for confirmation on my wedding date of May 26, 2012.  We are going to stay at OCT as a vacation and mini-planning trip in August under the "preview" rate from hotel website.  I will ensure that I take plenty of photos and if you guys have any thing in particular that you want me to inquire/take photos of, just let me know.  We are hoping that we fall in love with this hotel because it has very affordable rates, transfers are included if you book through the hotel, kids eat/stay free, and there is something for everyone.  We are also going to inquire about excursions, transportation to Cancun or Playa de Carmen, and planning a private sunset cruise for our rehearsal dinner.  We are planning to send out our STDs and have our wedding site up and running by September with all the info we get from our planning trip.

I have been lurking on this site for a while trying to research and find a destination and resort that will be perfect for us and I'm hoping this is it.  Hopefully we can get this forum lively again with some posts from upcoming brides and some past brides.  I actual took time to go through all the pages in this forum and it has been such a blessing since there a minimal reviews on this resort.

Thank you @ChelseaFisher29 for your recent review and photos!  You looked absolutely beautiful on your special day.

Hi Ladies,

I am having trouble posting this so if it comes up more than once, I apologize!!

I am new and Fiance and I are headed to OCT June 23-30 to check out the place for our wedding August 2012.

If you have had your wedding there, I have some questions:

- Where was your reception?  We told Ana we would like to rent one of the ala carte restaurants or the privilege restaurant for our reception.  She has not gotten back to use yet.  How is the terrace for a reception?  We're afraid out doors might be too hot in August but we don't like the banquet hall idea...we could do that at home!

- How many guests did you invite vs. how many came?

- What kind of group rate did the hotel give you?  I know some people mentioned Air Train was good.  Ana told me you have to book through them to get a group rate?

- How early did you send out your STDs?

- Did you have your hair and make up done at the resort?

- Overall, how was your wedding day experience?

Also, I am so tempted to facebook some of you to see your reception photos but I am not a creeper!  If you wouldn't mind though, please tell me because I'd love to see reception photos!

Thank you in advance for any advice!!

Lindsey
