Hi everyone!

 

My wedding is November 28th at OCT (so soon!) and I was wondering if anyone is planning or already has brought in an outside DJ from the area?  I want to book DJ Luca who does weddings in the Riviera Maya, but don't want to pay the $500 outside vendor fee, so I was going to book him a room at OCT instead.  Will they allow him to come in if he is only a guest for one night?  I'm not sure how to ask my wedding coordinator (Areli) about it since we're trying to work around all of the extra fees if possible. DJ Luca said he would like to meet with her and see the place beforehand since he has never done a wedding there before, so I'm trying to figure out how to make it work without spending an arm and a leg.

Hi everyone, I have not posted in a while, but wanted to say congratulations to everyone that has just returned, or who has an upcoming weeding at OTC. I'm pretty excited, as we just booked our trip this weekend, and are getting married February 17th. Its going to be very low key and simple, as there are 12 of us in total. I have been dealing with Daniel as well, and so far he has been wonderful.

 

Hope that everyone is enjoying the process, and I think I will now too that our flights and hotel are confirmed.

I used to work back at Ocean Coral as a wedding coordinator so I can help you with some information. 

You have to book at least 3 nights at the hotel so the dj can be considered as a guest otherwise you will have to pay the outside vendor fee.... You can also ask Areli the prices for the hotel DJ it might be cheaper than hiring an outside DJ.

Hey everyone, I have a few questions that hopefully you can give me advice/answer for me... I am not bringing a big group of people with me to the wedding so we need to do the a la carte supper. Has anyone done this? What is the atmosphere like? Where the other guest really close or did they tend to give you some privacy?

Also since the a la carte doesn't have a dance floor I was wondering how you did your first dance and your father daughter dance?

I was also wondering if anyone knows the difference between the symbolic and civil wedding ceremony? I understand all the legal part of it but I'm just wondering about the actual ceremony. We are thinking of doing a symbolic but not telling anyone and we will get all the legal documentation done in Alberta when we get back.

Hi, does anyone have information on outside photographer/videographer? Looking for a similar or better price/package than what the resort is offering. ..including the outside vendor fee....any ideas would help...

I was a wedding coordinator at Ocean Coral so I think i can give you some advice.

Regarding your question about the privacy at the restaurant, as you know other guests have access to the restaurant but usually they place the wedding tables on the sides so you can have a little more privacy and guest are not crossing between your tables.

 

For the dances other brides have rented the lounge terrace to have their first dance, father-daughter, mother-son and an extra time for dancing. 

 

The difference between the symbolic and civil wedding is that the civil one is performed by a judge and its legal and the symbolic by a minister and is not legal. 

 

During the civil ceremeny the judge pronounce the name of bride, groom and witnesses and they are asked for their signatures and finger prints.

In the symbolic ceremony the minister gives a speech about marriage, it can be spiritual (speech about love, family, friends) or religious (speech about God, faith). You will also sign a certificate but is not legal.

I am having my wedding here June 2015! Any opinions on the photographer/videographer on the resort verses bringing in an external one? I'm concerned by the high price and questionable outcome.
