Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

thanks for that great email, i have been stressing out from the lack of communication from Ana, my wedding is at OCT in April 2013.  I had questions hopefully you can help me a little, we are not hiring a dj, instead we want to bring a laptop, we have read in prior posts that people have brought ipods and that they worked out great, but we were wondering if a laptop would work just as well.  Also, we want our reception to be as close to the beach as possible but we are not sure where the dance floor would be, my fiancé really has his heart set on this and Ana is not answering me. Have you ever heard of this being an option at this resort.

@rivierabride13 - this link may help you with your planning.  I saw it on a past post on here.  It looks like you can have your reception right on the beach and there are different dance floor options that Planner1 Events has as well that I am sure you can have set up right on the sand.  Hope this helps!

I am not sure that my last reply to your post went through.  I believe you can have your reception right on the beach, just be weary I have heard it is pretty windy.  Below is a link to a slide show of all the options for OCT that I found on this thread a while back.  Might help:)  Also I have attached the pdf of the Planner1 Events information I received which includes dance floor options etc.  Hope this helps!  Let me know if you need anything emailed!

Thank you! :)

I hate to burst your bubble, emily a, but I have found that communication with the wedding coordinators at OCT to be practically non-existant once you sign a contract with them.  Sure, they will send you all the information you need when you tell them you are interested in using OCT.  But once you sign the contract and put down a deposit, it's like pulling teeth to get their attention.  Calling the hotel doesn't even work (I tried that 4 times).  The coordinators are extremely slow to answer, and when they do, they only answer part of your question, or give you some answer that does not make any sense.  The language barrier presents quite a porblem.  I am running into a lot of problems in trying to communicate with OCT, and the wedding is only a few months away.  I don't know what the communication is like at other resorts, but if I had to do it over again, I would NOT pick OCT to be my wedding vendor. Given that, here is the address for Agelica Vargas, our wedding coordinator, who leaves a lot to be desired.  Emailing Ana Bautista doesn't help, either:  [email protected]

Repeat:  I would consider another resort before you fall into their trap!  Amanda  [email protected]

Hello ladies!

You've all been so helpful, so I thought I'd contribute.

My parents just arrived from OCT for a site visit, and they can not stopped preaching about them. Capacity of the resort was 95%, and they never noticed. The service is amazing, they have no negative comments. There are always servers around, and even at the buffet normally would greet you within 2 minutes. They always are circulating to make sure you have everything. With two of them they never had an issue getting dinner around 7pm after most families ate around 6pm.

There were very few kids on the Coral side, with the pool bar. Turquesa side has a zero entry, as well as their children pools were very busy with children. OCT is aware of their seaweed issue, and do have the tractor that does goes up and down the beach. Unfortunately not as often as we would hope. They do as much as they can, but it continues to be an issue.

Ceremony - We've opted to have our ceremony in front of building 1. I realize their is a giant fence that marks the end of the property, but my parents said they never even noticed it. The way the ceremony is set up your looking away from it. I've heard a lot of brides choosing building 17, but my parents were not impressed with the beach at this area, as this is where the seaweed gets built up.

If you have any questions, please feel free to message me or post on here, and I'll attempt to answer the questions. So excited, 101 days and counting!

My parents were able to meet with Ana, as well. She was very busy, but very organized. Communication is terrible, I understand. But Ana is on top of all of our weddings. My parents were extremely impressed with her. She was only able to meet for about 20 minutes, but was patient and answered all of our questions. Most days their are 2 weddings, but at least 1 wedding a day. Ana normally does stay at the resort til 11pm most nights. Their priority is their most current weddings. I have all the confidence in Ana with her team. with create my dream wedding as well as yours.

I know communication before the wedding is very frustrating, but thankfully we have other brides who has already been there!
