Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hey TropicLover,

I have been out of this website for a while, but I am back now and in full wedding planning.

My understanding was that you cannot choose multiple menu options. But you can have a different option for people with alergies.

On the appetizers, I think you get everything. I mean the price is not small at all for those (for the cocktail hour apps, i mean). I plan on asking Ana to only pay for 70% of the people for apps and them providing less food. I do not think I need so much food.

I am going there in one month. I hope to have all thes figured out by then.

Ana

@ Sandy Borie: Did you try the local Walmart for the cyilinders? Let's keep in touch. I am getting married on June 2nd and I will have 3 cylinder glasses as well. We could eventually split the costs and just buy one set of cylinders :). I plan on checking Walmart when I go tehre in December.

I will also use them at the church (like in the below pic but 3 different sizes) and then will move them to the reception. I am waiting from my church ceremony wedding planner on the price and will let you know.

Hi AnaS,

You're so right about the meal options. Most of my guests would be happy with the Surf and Turf, however I do have some that are picky and don't eat read meat.  In that case I guess it's safe to say they have a shellfish allergy and book them with the salmon, lol. Then again I'm going to have the vegetarian option as I don't eat any meat or fish...basically nothing with eyes, haha...so I have a feeling I'll need to say that a few of my other guests are veggies too because they don't eat red meat and dislike salmon.  I so wish they would let our guests pick their meal choice before the wedding...oh well.

For all the ladies that have been to the resort how would you rate the steak?  Was it any good or should I stick with the salmon?  What is everyone else choosing?

@AnaS Can't wait to hear how all your time planning goes.  We're not there until November, 2012, but timing is definitely something I've been thinking of.  I figured I would take care of most of those details closer to the date, but it's sooo helpful to see what others are doing!

I would love to see some more picutres of the lobby terrace area!  That's where we're doing the ceremony/reception (I think - depends how many more times I change my mind!  ha!).  I'm hoping it's more 'terrace' than 'lobby'?   If you could snap some pics there, that would be awesome!

Cheers!

Ladies, I am going down there in December again. I will be there between Dec 8th and Dec 11th. Let me know if you want me to check stuff for you, take pictures, etc.

Congrats and welcome!  Maybe you can help me with some excursion ideas...ideally I'd like to have 2 options planned. Everyone seems to be quite keen on seeing the ruins...since they are the "go big or go home" type I think they'd be disapointed in Tulum and would rather see the Chitzen Itza ruins.  How far away is that site?  Is it worth the distance?

Also if you have other excursion ideas geared around the cenotes please let me know :-) Thanks!

Im not really new to the thread but kinda stalking it for the past 6 months here and there! I have a couple answers to peoples questions about the resort i have been there multiple times! I am getting married there in April 2012 but have yet to set a exact date since i keep going back and forth on timing! Anyway enough about me i just wanted to answer some quetions that i had seen others have...JBANDdj- to answer about the disco, there isnt a disco but they do have the american sports bar that is open later in the evening that has a pool table and a small dance floor. Usually its pretty lame but if you get a big enough group in there they will turn on some music and you can dance but its not always hopping. I was there last week and the staff was awesome enough to turn the tunes on for our small group who like to dance! As for night life its not super party crowd time atmosphere. The lobby usually has kareoke once in awhile and they will do random dj's at the pool bar but the music is random as well. This resort is not known for huge party crowds but with your own group i feel you can make your own fun! If anyone needs info on the resort i would be happy to answer questions, i know some basics about cancun and playa del carmen as well! Hope to hear more of everyones plans :)

Hi Sandy,

Awesome! I will let you know how it went when I get back in December. Sharing the cost would allow us to even work with Ana's price if it si the most conveninet, but hopefully we will find even a better one. I was at target today and they had the cylinders and the cost of one was $8. Actually is was more than I expected. Maybe Walmart is cheaper and hopefully they have them.

I plan on puttng Cala Lillies in the cylinders, but the same idea as in your picture. I actully will use these cylinders at the church as well. see picture below. I was planning on different centerpieces for the reception, but since I will use cylinders at the church I though I might as well just move them to the reception and not pay for flowers twice.

At the church I plan on having something like in the orchid picture below but with Cala Lillies and make the cylinders 3 sizes so I can move them to the reception. When moved to the reception, they would add water and the floating candle.

@ AnaS-  The pics look gorgeous!  Ana just got back to me about the price for the cylinders, she said that 48 usd would be for the entire arrangement with theyellow rainbow pahlenopsis orchid included!  Phew! Thank God.  I think that is a good price considering they would have to ship the orchids in from somewhere else since it is not locally grown.    I am still on board if you want to share the cost. How many sets of 3 cylinders would you anticipate having?  I think we might have from somewhere to about 5-8 sets depending on our RSVP's which isnt until mid February. By then, I will have a more accurate estimation of how many I would need.
