Doing more random invite inspiration searching and I fell in LOVE with this:

 

 

Anyone know what kind of technique I could use to create the indented design in the paper and what kind of paper works best? Thanks all! Carla

I don't know exactly, but it looks like a custom embosser...

Ok, I'm a total DIY novice, so keep that in mind, hehehe. But that looks like embossing. It is beautiful and would make for an awesome invite or STD ~ the paper looks like its linen, but thicker than just regular cardstock.

I posted this in a craft forum to and you ladies were right, its embossing. I am going to try and get a hand embosser made with a customer plate of a compass rose. Any one know a good place to get a custom embosser from?

you might want to try to see if you can find a compass rose already made. you might not have to do custom

You are awesome!! I really only wanted the compass rose with the north, south, east, west on it. I wonder if I can find the N,S,E,W letter separately cheaper than having them added to that one?

they let you put words around it. so maybe you can just pick that design & put NSEW around it

 

I think there is another way to emboss using stencils. it takes longer, but might be a cheaper option.
