XBOX 360 or PS3

I know this community is absolutely dominated by women, but I still thought I could get some valid opinions due to your personal experiences, and your experiences with your fiances/husbands.

So I've been considering getting an XBOX 360 or PS3 for quite sometime now but I've been stumped on what to get since I've heard the PS3 is better but the XBOX 360 is much cheaper. Please help try to understand what I should get and why....

Thanks!

I voted PS3 only because my Fiance is dying for one! Our rommate does have a 360 though and he rarely leaves his room - lololol I guess it has the benefit of being able to connect with all of your friends, so if you have friends who have 360s that might be a big plus...

Personally I am trying to keep Martin away from both of them! rofl.gif

(we already have an old XBox, PS2 and a Wii!)

100% for XBOX 360 thanks to me :)) Woops looks like other people voted while I was writing...

I never thoughht I would say that but Xbox 360 is awesome. I got one for my FI for his birthday wink.gif This thing is not only a great game console. You can use it as your media center extender (anything you have one your computer : music, video, pictures) can play wireless on your TV. The music you chose (from your computer) can play in background during any game. The Xbox connects you to other players - that you know or not - and you can play games online with other people. You can download demo games from the Arcade, and buy games online with credits you buy from the internet. They have recently changed the interface, and you now have avatars like what they do with the wii. If you have a Netflix account, the movies are now delivered to your Xbox instead of your mailbox !! You can see the episodes of your favourites shows on netflix via the Xbox the day after they aired. My favourite game is Rock Band - all the instruments are now wireless, except the mike. The controllers are wireless and you can hook a headset into the controller to talk to your game buddies over the internet when they are connected, when you play with them... It has a lot of storage on the hard drive (60GB I think for the last one ?). And last but not least it's smaller than the PS3.

I know the PS3 has a lot of new features (I knew the PS2 only) but the XBox 360 is sick. And you said it - I'm a girl !! So imagine !!

Another vote for the PS3. We're getting one from "Santa" for Christmas (already wrapped and waiting for the tree), but it has been opened once or twice (by the hubby) to make sure everything worked properly.

His words in regards to it, "it's just so sexy!". It is a pretty nice looking machine, plus it will double as a Blu-Ray player (big plus!!!), negating the extra cost of a separate player down the line. It will also play DVDs, allowing us to free up space under the tv. All we'll have there is the PS3 and the hubby's sound system that I only now kinda know how to work. We have a PS2 currently, but since the PS3 is backwards compatible (the one we have is...check and see if the newer ones are still going to do that, I know there was talk that they weren't. I may be challenged in the technology department, but Timm keeps me up on the important info...it's amazing it sticks!), we can still play old games. The biggest reason Timm wanted one is because of the game God of War 3...it isn't released yet, but it will be in the next year or so, and he LOVED the first two in the series.

Two other men in my friendship circle have the PS3 already, and absolutely love it.

I guess what it comes down to in the end is personal preference.

Good luck with your choice!!

Ok yeah I forgot about that. FSIL was just talking about this the other day. That is pretty freakin' fantastic!

YUP! This would have been the only way I would have actually wanted a PS3 in our house!!! Lucky for me FI went out and bought us a badass Sony BluRay player a month ago! elefant.gif

I think that happened to our roommate when he first got his, but he just sent it back in and got a new one - has worked fine since then as far as I know. He was worried about that though - I remember him talking about it...

My husband has an XBOX 360. It's crashed (died, gonzo) on him twice. Both times he's got brand new ones (no charge) so the third one is still working okay. He loves playing the online shooting games like Call of Duty 4 where you are playing with your friends online (while they are at their houses) and talking into headsets etc.

I would maybe go the PS3 route.. but maybe it has crashing issues too? I dunno
