Prices/pics of Nassau locations?

I think I read somewhere that you can have the captain of the ship verify you are in the Bahamian waters to establish residency. It doesn't have to be Nassau that you in, just the Bahamas. Have you been to the Cruise Critic website yet? There is a section for weddings. If you have any other questions though, those people are SERIOUS about cruising and can answer almost any question you have!

When are you planning to get married? I think my mom is going down a few days ahead of us to do the scouting for me on the best place to get flowers. She is a compulsive list maker and writes down all details, so I will pass on anything she finds as to the best place to get flowers and anything that may come up with the license.

Have you decided on a place for dinner yet? Luciano's is always recommended by the wedding planners. I think it is right downtown and at night has a view of Atlantis in the background. Cafe Matisse was also recommended but it is a courtyard in the middle of town, so not on near the water (which is what I want). If I remember correctly I found photos of both of these on Webshots.

Sorry I'm a little late on this, but I am getting married at Atlantis. hey gave me a list of photographers that they recomend. I went with Kevin Williams. Unfortunetly, he does not have a website. He sent me some sample books for free. If you want to contact him, his email address is [email protected]

The only thing is that he is kind of expensive. I am paying $4000 for 4 hours, A 60 page main book, 3 parents books, 4 guest books, calendar and all pictures on disc.

Thanks - I will add him to my list to contact. I find it odd that websites are not a big thing down there (vendors, restaurants, services). I saw a lot of people with Blackberries and the planners all carried laptops and were able to connect to wireless, so its not the lack of technology. I think if a really creative person with vision and the ability to create web pages went down there they could make a fortune as a wedding planner!

Hey girl,

Yeah, I'm on cruise critic too. I'm FutureSMRN (That's my sn on the knot too). So, I wouldn't have to high tail it to the town hall? I could just go the next day when I had time, establish resisency, apply for the marriage license, and get married all in the same day (If I had a letter from the ship)? Awesome! I got sick of someone on that site that I'm pretty sure works for TWE always answering my questions.

I can't say for sure that is how it works but I know I saw something on one of the many boards I watch that said something like that. It did sound like you had to talk with someone on the ship ahead of time so that they could have the documentation ready (not a wedding coordinator but personnel that would have the captain sign something).

I know what you mean about the TWE person, but I find that with most of the people on that site. If any on posts anything negative they are jumped all over and a million excuses are made or the OP is attacked. If you can overlook that stuff it is an amazing site for information. I would have been lost without it before we cruised.

I contacted Kevin Williams (photographer) and he is going to send me some of his samples, so thanks unlimateme. I have had a lot of communication with Karen at Professional Bahamas Weddings, and she has been very helpful. She said she will take care of all communications and vendor bookings, confirmations, venue scoutings, everything for 1,250. However, I am a little scared to book her because her contract only provides that she take care of the paperwork and my bouquet and fiance's boutonniere. When I asked that she amend the contract to say that she will also do everything else she said she would do, she sent me a detailed email saying she would do it all, but she still has not changed the actual contract becasue she claims she would have to go through her attorney to do so. I would be very upset if I paid 1,250 just for paperwork and some flowers. She seems trustworhtly but I am not very trusting so I am sort of stuck. I really want a wedding planner though.

I ran across a young lady on the internet who just got married in Nassau. I have reached out to her and will let you know if I get a response.

Yeah Monkey, I don't feel like I get an unbiased opinion there at all! And it seems whatever I ask, they say it can't be done and don't offer alternative solutions. I basically get a tough $hit answer every time... plus, on important stuff like this, I need actual facts! I won't take their word when it comes to the legalities of my wedding!!! I read the forum for ideas though.

Hazel, we hear ya on the planner thing! I would love to have someone handle the whole deal for me, but it doesn't look like I can trust them too! You could also have the minister handle all the paperwork for you for about $100. I found island preacha's website to be really helpful. All the info, prices and options are in there! Island Preacha: Memorable Weddings... Island Style! Let us know how it goes with the planner!

Oh, and I can't take credit for that photographer list! I found it on here somewhere and saved it! I believe it was on Bride Referrals...

I'm glad you got through to Kevin, you should get the package in a couple of days. I was surprised to get it when I did. I thought it would take at least a week. I just wanted to let you know that you can negotiate with him. I told him what I wanted and what I was willing to pay and he agreed. He adds things to his packages that I don't think are needed. He also originally asked for half of the money upfront to book and then the rest two days before the big day. I was not confortable with that. I gave him $1500 to book and he is going to take $2000 on the wedding day and then $500 once I receive the proofs. So he does really work with you.

I also booked Matthew Sweeting AKA Island Preacha for our wedding. He can do the paperwork with you, but that is in addition to the ceremony fee. But he seems really experienced. His website has a lot to offer. Even things I didn't know existed.

My husband Andy just got back from Compass point Saturday shooting a wedding for a couple that lives here in the T&C (The groom is the head of the department of culture for the Turks and Caicos islands). Andy really loved the colorful buildings for the photos and the laid back atmosphere.

He also was impressed with their wedding coordinator, Paulette, Amour Affairs. He said she was really switched on. If you want some ideas of the resort and photos from a wedding there, they are on our blog

That may give you some ideas for the photographer you choose and also give you an idea for it's setting, There is a link to the wedding coordinators site as well.
