Planning 101

I thought that planning a destination wedding would be easier and less stressful then planning something at home. Maybe I am just stressing myself out for no reason.

 

We've picked the country: Jamaica but not the resort yet. We are leaning towards the Riu Ocho Rios.

 

We've picked the time of year: early Nov 2009

 

Does all my stress go away after the resort is chosen or does it just get crazier from here? Am I just creating my own stress?

Honestly...I felt way better after I had my resort picked and most of all, my wedding date secured! I mean, yeah, there's still other things to stress about, like the dress and all that but I think location was definitely my biggest stress factor.

I agree with Kathy - once the resort was picked and the date was secured, I felt a lot better. After you get your group rates from your travel agent, and have that all set in place, you'll feel even better! I was totally overwhelmed at first too, but honestly once the major things are out of the way it's not too bad. Happy planning!

I definitely felt the most stressed about picking the resort. After that the stress seems to come and go in waves. Just be sure to remember to delegate and not get too carried away. It's easy to get caught up in all the little details

Picking the resort and trying to get everything worked out to make sure our wedding was booked was definately the most stressful part. The part after that only becomes stressful if you decided you want specific details. Otherwise it's pretty much just go with the flow and as long as your paperwork is done you're as good as married!

Welcome to the forum!! I definitely think that choosing the resort and getting the date reserved is the most stressful thing because so many other things can't be done until you've done that. Once that's done, there is so much information here and so many ideas to help you plan. Good luck!!
