This slide show is wonderful - thank you so much for sharing. Everyone looked like they had a blast...loved Grandpa on the dance floor :) And you looked beautiful, congratulations again.

We absolutely LOVED our wedding at the Excellence. We dealt with a slew of different coordinators (Yamina, Gustavo, Nayeli) during the planning stages, but Lleny was the actual coordinator who helped us down there. We too were frustrated by long response times with emails, but in the end everything turned out perfectly and without a hitch. The only hiccup was the rehearsal dinner, but that ended up turning out better than the original plan for the Fiesta.

Hi Ladies,

First off let me say how beautiful all of you look in the photos ive seen so far!! amazing.

Im looking to get married with my partner here in April 2013...got a few hesitations/queries though.

1.Symbolic or civil ? im so worried about messing up all the paperwork and the translations and blood work etc? do you think its easier to marry before and just have the "proper" party/ceremony there. is the symbolic ceremony much different to the civil ?

2.A few of my guests are complaining about the prices to stay here, is it possible to bring guests that arent on site to the wedding and does anyone know the cost implications of this ?

The resort is just so fantastic that i really dont want to change because of my guests but on the other hand i would like my nearest and dearest with me on my special day.

Any help/comments would be greatly appreciated

thank you x

Hi there, I hope I can help you with some of your queries as I got married at EMP last month!

1. We went for civil ceremony but I was also scared of all the paperwork. Basically a copy of your birth certificate and passport has to be emailed to the wedding planner up to 6 weeks before you fly out (your travel agent does this for you). The day after you arrive you'll see a doctor at the hotel who is really nice and he takes bloods which doesn't hurt and it didn't even leave a bruise and I mark really easily!  If you ask for an English speaking judge to perform your ceremony you don't have to pay translations fees. The marriage certificate you get in Mexico is all legal and doesn't even need registering in the UK no fees at all.

Our wedding co-ordinator was Llenny Gomez <[email protected]>; and she's brilliant, replies within 48hrs and knows her stuff!

2. It is really expensive for guests to stay - there was a hotel right next door which was much cheaper than EMP but I can't remember the name. Llenny might be able to give you their details. You can buy event passes for guests for $125 which lets them in 1hr before wedding up to the end of your reception.

Hope this helps, you have plenty of time so don't worry too much. I just turned up and went with the flow :)

Hi Carley,

It is possible to have guests stay off-site and just travel to the resort for the day of the wedding. The charge is either $100 or $125 per person  day fee, plus the regular wedding costs. The only thing that I would let them know is there are not really any other hotels within easy distance of the EPM. It's about a 30 minute drive (through some less than desirable areas) to reach the resort. So if you went that route, you would likely need to arrange for transport for your guests as well. The only hotel nearby is The Beloved Hotel, which is immediately adjacent. I think that their prices are similar to EPM but possibly a little less. This hotel also allows children, but no one under the age of 18 in allowed on the EPM property even for the wedding.

Good luck with your planning and I hope that you are able to have your wedding here...it is GORGEOUS!

Hello:

I am getting married in March 2013 and had similar questions myself. Apparently we no longer need to translate any documents. That is a recent new law in Mexico. Your passport and few other pertinent documents are needed but no longer a passport or divorce papers translated. We were happy to hear this as we are doing the civil ceremony.

I was recently told that it's $45 per person to attend your wedding if they are not staying at the resort. Don't change your resort because of a few people...this place is amazing. We've been there 3 times. You can't please everyone. Do what's best for you and your fiance.

Best of luck. Message me if you have any other questions. Best, K

Thanks so much for the replies ladies really appreciate it :)

Thats definately something for us to think about , if they have to travel a fair distance and pay  to come into the hotel it probably wouldnt be much price difference in the end than if they stayed at EPM also.

Has anyone on this thread had a symbolic ceremony ? if so can you kindly inform me of how it went did it feel pretty much the same as a legal? im dreading giving blood also as im scared stiff of needles ... lol

thanks x
