Excellence Playa Mujeres Brides Post Here!

Recommended Posts

Hello All.  How about a thumbs up for the first male that I think has ever posted on here!  I was hoping that one of the recent brides could help us out with a few questions.  We are getting married at Excellence on July 14th, just around the corner.  I think we are going to do the cocktail hour and dinner at the Ceco Terrace? Has anyone done it there or heard good or bad about it?  Also, we are planning on roughly 20 guests but we were still contemplating a DJ so that we didn't have to worry about dealing with that added stress.  From your experience, if you could go back, would you have a DJ or just stick with the speaker system?  Thanks so much in advance.  All of your input has been really helpful to us!

Hello all.  Me and my fiance are getting married at Excellence on July 14th of this year.  I had a few quick questions for any brides that have been married there recently.  We have about 20 people attending but were thinking about getting a DJ anyways just so we wouldn't have to worry about coordination and playing songs.  If you could go back and do it again would you have a DJ or was it easy enough with the speakers or bose system?  Also,  any input on the Ceco lounge?  I haven't heard of anyone who did there cocktail hour/reception there.  Thank you so much in advance.

Congrats!!

We used a Bose system and it worked great. However, I'm not sure how the acoustics would work at the CECO terrace, I think it is more open so the sound may drift away rather than echo in your dance area. Our dance area for 18 ppl was smaller and the Bose worked perfect with the sound being really loud and bouncing off the building. Outside of the sound it might have been a relief for my husband to not have to think about or worry about the music for dinner and the dancing. So, I'd say 'go for it' with the DJ - any extra help you can get to help you guys relax is going to be worth it.

We had our cocktail reception at the X-lounge and it was perfect. I haven't heard of many people talking about a reception at the CECO.

Happy planning!

We were married at the CECO terrace with 36 guests. I'm not sure that a sound system would carry well with how open that area is?  We went with DJ Mannia and they were fantastic to work with.  We sent them a list of songs we wanted played and they took it from there. They chose the music to be played during dinner and we got a lot of compliments! They also did a great job MC'ing.  I think it was well worth the money to not have to worry about any of those things.  If it is within your budget, I'd recommend it.

I haven't the digital copies of my photos yet, but here is the link to my photographer's blog:  http://www.juanphotos.com/blog/weddings/excellence-playa-mujeres-destination-wedding-ilia-chris-isla-mujeres-q-roo-mexico/

He took a pretty good aerial shot of the of the CECO terrace.

Your photos look so great! Juan does such a good job. Love your dress!!! Did you do your own hair or have the salon do it? It looks wonderful.

hello and congrats on your upcoming wedding!!

we just came back from excellence and it was amazing!

we looked at both the ceco and spice terrace, to be honest the ceco was a little boring (sorry if i offended anyone)  and it is very open so any sound would carry too far out i think.  i would go with the spice terrace in my opinion

we only had 8 ppl total in our party so we used my brothers speakers and it was perfect.

let me know if you have any more questions!

I agree, we were really bummed when the Ceco was taken on our day, because the Del Sol photos that we saw made that location look so amazing, but when we got there and saw a wedding reception happening before our wedding day, we were quickly happy with the option we picked instead of the Ceco. We only had 18 ppl total, so maybe the Ceco would be perfect for a larger group, but you'd definitely need some cool lighting & the lite dance floor to set the mood for that area. Check out some of the Del Sol photos to get a good idea of what the cocktail & reception can look like. It can be pretty spectacular, but it takes some extra effort & decor- from what I've seen.
