Hey Ladies!

Trisha - That's definitely a great idea about having a symbolic ceremony. We did the same thing when we were married in the Riviera Maya last June. The best part is, no one realizes and it still really is your BIG DAY! We're celebrating our destination wedding anniversary as our "real" anniversary date as well. Good luck with everything and best of luck with the planning! The day and night go so fast so cherish every minute!

I think intimate weddings are great. FH and I are very happy with our decision to go with a destination wedding versus something traditional. We aren't really a traditional couple anyway.

We'll be there 8 days/7 nights as well. Like you, I wish we had more time, but I think EPM includes an anniversary perk in their gold package, so it's something to look forward to.

How long have you and your fiance been together?

Iâ€m not having a MOH or a best man; we just decided to keep it small & simple. Just the two of us! Then should be 6-8 people!

I was a little worried about the heat too, but itâ€ll all work out!

We are going to have a symbolic ceremony and get married here in Oklahoma at the court house, or justice of the peace or whatever they call it. J I just didnâ€t want to do the whole marriage certificate in Spanish, and worry about the blood test and all that stuff down there. We will go by August 19th as our anniversary date though, and not the date we get married here at home. Iâ€ve heard that when you go to the courthouse to get married, it feels like youâ€re going to sign a few papers, and is just like signing mortgage papers or something! cheesy.gif

Iâ€m feeling pretty much the same way you are, but I know that itâ€ll all work out. Iâ€ve just had some dreams about my make up not being right and then I had a dream about the stylist cutting my hair off( I have long brown hair) and dying it blonde while I was there, and it freaked me out! But, thatâ€s because Iâ€m really big on my pictures, I want them to turn out good, and Iâ€m a picture freak! Other than that, Iâ€m feeling okay as of now!

We are staying at the resort for a 7nights/8Days, so itâ€s a honeymoon/wedding. I would love to stay longer, but got to get back to work! We plan on taking another vacation in February (hopefully) though, and so thatâ€ll be sort of like our honeymoon.

Iâ€m so excited though!! We have been together a long time and we are now making it official!

Haha! I haven't, the week is not over though! msnwink.gif

We aren't traditional at all either, we've done everything backwards, if that makes any sense. We have been together since high school, so 10 years now. We've put off getting married, because it was like something else was always coming up, we knew we would get married some day, but I never actually made the plans. Out of High school, we went together and picked out a small engagement ring, and I had that ring for like 9 years (which I was totally happy with, because it had meaning) and then last August he was able to surprise me with a new ring and he actually proposed to me. So since he did that, it actually felt like a real engagement, so I decided to plan the wedding & since I love to go on vacation, we would make it a 2 for 1 deal! All of our friends have always considered us married anyways, so I sort of think a traditional wedding was not really our thing~! :)

I can't wait until August!! Whoop whoop!!

So WOW I'm really counting down the days at this point. 26 days. I gotta tell you that sometimes I find the email communication to be frustrating! GRR. I don't blame Yamina because I know that she's terribly busy, but I waited 5 days for a response to an email and half of the email for some reason didn't send -- the half with all of the questions that I need answered. Dang it. So now it'll be another few days of waiting. I'm just really anxious at this point and I want to have all of the details finalized. I want to know where our reception will be so that I can put that info into our welcome brochures... Things like that, I just can't stand the wait. doh.gif

Hi grandstreet11! You're going to have time of your life, congratulations! Last minute advice I'd give is to make sure that you have someone in your bridal party/family member/friend know what your schedule is going to be for the big day. Making sure you won't have to worry about little details will give you peace of mind and allow you to float around the day of like the beautiful bride you'll be! My MOH actually volunteered to go meet with the WC, so if you have that option, it might be something nice in order to allow yourself to relax and enjoy yourself at maximum capacity! Congrats again!

Hi there!

Sorry it has taken me FOREVER to get back on here. I have been crazy with work and trying to find a wedding dress in my spare time! I am not having the "magical" time finding one. haha

The temps were pretty hot while we were there. It was high 80's-low 90's but when you are in the shade, its pretty comfortable. The wind really helps with the temperature. I didn't think it was that bad. I like the heat though. By the time 5pm came around, you could tell it was cooling off. The ceremony would be great. And the reception time is wonderful! By the time the sun sets, its the perfect temp and humidity was low. I would say high 70's at night.

The gold package decor includes the white linens and the all the dining/ glassware. For your "extra" decor that you get with the gold package, you could get a flower centerpiece.

I am going to splurge a little more and get colored linens and floral centerpieces for the recpetion. I want to make it a little more personal. I am also planning on bringing menus and table numbers since we are having assigned seating. I saw a reception there with just the basic white and it was still VERY beautiful! I would have been happy with just that as well.

I hope you have a great wedding! I would love to hear how everything goes!

Hi Ilia!

How is the date decision making going?

I am sorry I am just now getting back to you! I have been crazy busy at work and haven't had a chance to get on here in awhile. It IS hot in April/ May, but the beginning of April and the end of April are pretty much going to be the same. On a happy note, but 5pm, it starts to cool down quite a bit, and by the time the sunsets and the reception is going on, its a perfect temperature. I don't think you or or guest will be miserable.

And as far as a Friday the 13th wedding, I think it will give you a chance to prove all the superstitious people wrong! Go for it!!!!

Talk to you soon!

Brenna
