What are you walking down the Aisle to?

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I are having a hard time picking a song because we want something meaningful specifically to us, that isn't cliche, or just inappropriate as a processional song.

We both would like to have a song from Wall-e because I'm an animation student and he's an engineering student who loves science fiction and building robots. It's also just one of our favorite movies (one of the few movies that is on both our favorites lists) and it's a love story to boot!

Anyways, there's one instrumental piece that I thought would work, but it's only 37 seconds long! Here is a looped version, so let me know if you think it sounds ok looped or if it even works as a wedding song. YouTube - WALL-E Soundtrack All That Love's About Loop Edit

We're also thinking of using Louis Armstrong's "La Vie En Rose" for something...maybe recessional? It's got some pretty in-your-face trumpet, so I don't know if it's to much :S

I love the Star Wars, haha! We personalized all of our songs too, he walked out to Come Away With Me by Norah Jones and then I walked out to We Belong Together by Gavin Degraw, which I love for a beach wedding. Let us know what you pic!

I really liked the clip, although it is a little short. Sounds beautiful, but keep in mind it's a lot of wood winds, and might be difficult to hear against the crashing waves. Other than that, it's beautiful. Good Pick!

How long should a song be? My cousin is a music editor, so I'm just going to get it professionally looped. If you guys could give a rough idea of how long is generally needed for the bridal party, the bride, the recessional, etc, I would really appreciate it! The few weddings I've been to have had live musicians, so it's not something I've ever really paid attention to :S

Oh my gosh, I love it! That gave me the best idea! My FI is a huge Indiana Jones fan, I think it would be awesome to do our recessional to the theme!!! He would love it! Great idea, thanks!

That's a great question. I think it really depends on the length of "aisle" and amount of bridal party. I'd do a practice run. Ask your WC the length of the walk and then time it out with your bridal party. I'd say 4 - 5 minutes is sufficient as a loop, especially because it's an instrumental so you won't have to worry about cutting off words. I think it usual takes about an entire song for everyone to get up to the front...

I was wondering the same thing...

Also, you are supposed to have a bridal party walk down song and then a bride song, right?

Also, what do you guys think about walking down the aisle to "Im yours" Jason Mraz?
I really like the song, but, I'm not sure if I want to walk down the aisle with singing...but, that's the best part of the song!
Also, now my FI thinks that I shouldn't use it now since it was on American Idol last night!

"Going to California" By Led Zeppelin. It has beautiful acoustic guitar and mandoline parts...so it sounds calm and beachy. It's supposed to be about Joni Mitchell, lol, but we just both love the song and the lyrics work pretty well too.

Spent my days with a woman unkind,

Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.

Made up my mind to make a new start,

Going to california with an aching in my heart.

Someone told me theres a girl out there

With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.

Took my chances on a big jet plane,

Never let them tell you that theyre all the same.

The sea was red and the sky was grey,

Wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today.

The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake

As the children of the sun began to awake.

To find a queen without a king;

They say she plays guitar and cries and sings.

La la la la

Ride a white mare in the footsteps of dawn

Tryin to find a woman whos never, never, never been born.

Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams,

Telling myself its not as hard, hard, hard as it seems.
