Rockhouse Room Requirement and Jamaica TA needed

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

I really really really love what I have seen about the Rockhouse Hotel in Negril, but no way can meet their new 35 room requirement. Any suggestions or inside news that might help my situation?

I am wondering with the recent economic downturn they might relax that rule a bit. There has to be a solution somehow. I am planning for Spring 2010, so plenty of time to still find something else... but so far nothing has captivated me like their property.

Also-- any recommendations for a TA specializing in Jamaica?

Thanks for any advice you have to offer!

xoxo

Hey Terra I'm in the same situation as you. I spent a few days researching places on the cliffs in Negril and fell in love with the Rockhouse only to be told when I emailed them that weddings can only be held if you exclusively book the resort for 3 days! There is also a minimum spend of $8000 for the restaurant. I did email to ask if these requirements change in the off-season, I'll let you know what they say.

Hi all,

I am having my wedding at the Rockhouse in June. A couple things: they prefer, but do not require that you book the whole property. The whole property is blocked off for your guests to book (Thursday-Sunday), but 4 months prior to the wedding, the rooms are made available to the public. There is an $8000 minimum food and beverage requirement in order to use the restaurant for your reception. But if you don't think you can meet that requirement, you can use the poolside location. That is what we are doing. I expect about 40 guests at our wedding, so think we'll occupy about 70-80 percent of the property.

It is the most beautiful location for a wedding! I cannot wait to be married there...

I haven't stayed at either place and don't know the wedding requirements, but if you like the Rockhouse, you may want to check out Tensing Pen and Catcha Falling Star. Both are cliffs properties. I have friends who have stayed at all three, and they all get awesome reviews. We stayed at The Caves for part of our honeymoon, which was incredible, but would've been cost-prohibitive for our guests. The cliffs are definitely not a kid/mobility impaired locale though, so be aware.
