TTD Dress Photography Advice....

Recommended Posts

No worries, i only posted today...so you were fast to reply lol

Yeah i think with TTD its something personal for the new bride and groom and tends to be more romantic! WELL thats what were going for hehe... as far as the material goes, I knew that it would float lol lol but, i did want a pic of me in the water with my dress floating around me.(if you can picture that lol)

My FI is going to be wearing a white shirt with tan linen pants..what i was thinking was to put a white sash on me, and a red belt on him???? Im also doing a white flower with light feathers in my hair that i may add red crystals to it just to bring it all together!

as a photographer, do you think red would do the romantic feel iam looking for. Im a darker skin tone...more tan and olive (weird for an irish girl lol) and what do you think overall of the dress itself? ive looked through all the threads about TTD and no one has done a coloured (RED) dress lol

What permits? i didnt know anything about permits..and what are your prices?

funny thing is that i was JUST talking to my bahamas bride about her TTD shoot and she jokingly said red dress thinking it wasnt allowed. And i said that any dress is allowed in the TTD. there are no rules when it comes to your photos. I love the red dress idea. My only concern is that it is tafetta. That is a very tight woven fabric and becomes a little more difficult to work with when it gets wet. It sort of becomes a big balloon when air gets inside and cant escape the wet fabric. So you might have to squeeze it out from time to time ;) hehehe

Is the FI wearing black suit or what is he wearing?

AND THANK YOU ...I do do jamaica by the way. Just have to work with the permits like the bahamas. They can be an extra added cost so don't do much down in the permit countries.

oh the red will give this dark sexy romantic feel for sure. i say do some evening shots  right at dusk as well cause red dress at night or rigt at sunset or around town would be sweeet.  plus the red will be hot with some fill light to make it pop :)

the red belt might work or maybe just a bright red boutaniere or he can wear red lipstick (hahahaha jk)

This is great advice! I'm currently trying to find a second dress for my TTD and this will be something to keep in mind when looking!

I have come to realize that, even though I love the look of taffeta dresses, they get to be kind of a pain when wet. (if you're doing water photos that is)

They tend to fill up with air and turn into a floating balloon and some are almost impossible to get them to "deflate".

So if you're buying a second dress get one that has nice flowing fabric that will take to getting wet. Not so long you get wrapped up in wet fabric and cant move though. and they dont have to be expensive fancy dresses to get nice pictures either. :)

NOW .. don't go thinking cause you already have a taffeta dress that pictures wont turn out or whatever, because almost all of the dresses i've shot for TTD shoots have been taffeta, but just giving a little heads up if you are going to get a second dress.

with that said... happy TTDs'ing :)

I just did my TTD last week with Del Sol and I'm so excited to see the pics! Based on the conversations about color, I designed some very bold jewelry. The photographers loved how they caught the light and color was amazing with the jungle of the cenote and sunrise morning light on the beach! Don't be afraid to go bold with accessories!! This is the time!

(not my TTD, but a photo of foot jewels in the cenote from another person's TTD :)

So I only came across this thread about a week before I left and of course I had a taffeta dress.  With no time to get a second dress to do a TTD I went in with my wedding dress and well you weren't joking about them inflating.....  There was no sinking me.  Oh and another tip is be careful if you do go with a taffeta dress in the pool trying to get out is like trying to pull out a 100lb weight.  I almost ripped my dress a couple of times.  ALP_2481.jpg
