After the wedding then............

Recommended Posts

I'm having the same issue - my wedding is at three, dinner is at six. I'm leaning toward just letting everyone enjoy themselves and do whatever they want, as a few posters have suggested. Budget allowing, we may have hors d'oevres made available by one of the all inclusive bars.

I have a huge gap...my ceremony is at noon! I was stressing about the big time lag too. But I've concluded that none of my guests (all family and very close friends) will hold it against me if I don't have something specific planned. I can't count how many times I've gone to a wedding with a 2 o'clock ceremony and a 6 o'clock cocktail hour with nothing to do in between. The beauty of an all-inclusive is that there is always food and drink available somewhere...and at least your guests are killing time on a beautiful Caribbean beach and not Alsip, Illinois. :)

Good luck planning!

our wedding was at 4:00 & dinner was at 6:30. We had a champagne toast after the wedding (it was included in the package) and then took a group picture. after that everyone went off on their own & we took pictures. it was nice to have so much time to take pictures & not have to worry about keeping our guests waiting. From what i heard, everyone enjoyed the down time. I know a group went & had ice cream. other's went to the bar. Almost everyone went to their room to change or freshen up. it was hot during the ceremony.

Then we all met up for dinner in one of the restaurants at 6:30. it was semi-private. really, it was just like having 3 tables in the middle of the restaurant. it wasn't private enough for toasts or anything like that. I asked them just to serve the cake, but they brought it out for us to cut. i didn't want to cut the cake & do all that, but since they brought it out we did. it was fine & wasn't awkward doing this in the restaurant.

i enjoyed having it this way. I didn't want to have a full blown private reception. not only because it wasn't in our budget, but I didn't want that long of an event. by the end of the day we were really exausted & wanted to be alone. our guests were fine without us. several had a blast at the hotel disco. many of our crew went to bed early. everyone had been out all day in the sun.

Sounds like what our wedding will be like, only we have a 3:00 wedding. Also, I would think we will be partying until the wee hours of the morning! But it's nice to have the option NOT to!

I'm sure everyone will just love the time to freshen up themselves & their drinks! shots.gif

i was worried about doing it this was concerned our guests would feel like we skipped stuff. it didn't feel that way at all. that is a nice thing about being at an AI. you don't have to plan things. you are surrounded by things to do & can just let it happen. i don't like a lot of structure while on vacation. our place was small enough that we ran into each other all the time & spent lots of time together without having to coordinate it.

if we did want to party, we would have ended up at the disco with some of our guests. from what I heard they had a blast. the next morning they told me lots of stories, mostly involving my brother's silly dancing.

We just got back from our wedding at Dreams PC and I was incredibly stressed about the timing before we left. I know that everyone said not to worry and it would all work out, but I couldn't help it! Now coming back and going through it, it WILL all work out! :) We had SUCH an amazing time! We had the ceremony planned for 4 PM, and dinner planner for 6:30 - cocktail hour at 8. I was concerned about small gaps, but did not need! The ceremony did not start until 4:30, and we ended up taking pictures until about 6. We all just kind of mingled, some of us went back to our rooms to freshen up and relax for a minute. All met for 630 dinner, which lasted until about 7:45, and by the time we all walked over the the cocktail hour it was 8. The resort messed brought out the wrong hor deurves, so by the time the right ones came out, it was almost nine. We all were more than happy with drinks though, and had just eaten, so the food coming out later was not a problem, AND they left us stay for an extra hour bc of it. We stopped at one of the bars outside for about a half hour until the disco opened, and than closed up the disco after! It all flowed together and worked out great! We had our first dance and cake cutting at the cocktail hour, and than the disco it felt like a regular wedding reception. the dj pretty much let us just run his equipment so we got to hear w/e we wanted, PLUS my maid of honor set up a spontaneous garter toss which was so fun! I know we all say it, but it will all REALLY work out! Don't stress TOO much!
