Majestic Colonial or Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro???

Recommended Posts

Hi girls,

I'm having a hard time deciding between these 2 hotels, and I'm really hoping that someone out there has been to both (Majestic Colonial and Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro) and can give me an honest recommendation!

A little about my fiance and I (and our party): we are 30 and 27 and our guests will range from 25-60 years. That being said, we all like to have a good time and dancing is a must! Beaches are key for us as well (no rocks, white sandy beaches etc.), and I suppose food will be important too considering there will be approx. 20 or so people to please! Besides these factors, we're pretty easy going and not too fussy at all.

Looking forward to your replies :)

I haven't been to the Bahia Principe, but I HAVE been to the Majestic, and we are actually getting married there. I can tell you that the Majestic is STUNNING and truly is a 5 star resort (by dominican standards, anyway). It is also rated number 1 on trip advisor. The Bahia Principe is rated 9. I'd suggest reading the reviews on trip advisor, and try narrowing your search to include only those reviews that include the word "wedding" - very very helpful!!! Based on my own experience at the Majestic and the reviews of both resorts on trip advisor, I would definitely recommend the Majestic for a wedding. :) Either way, I'm sure it will be beautiful - happy planning!! :)

I've been to the Gran Bahia Principe. The grounds are very nice, the pools are also very nice. What I found about this resort is that the quality was lacking in the rooms. The bathrooms were all marble with a glass "door" to the shower/bath. That's about the only part of the room that's in style. The furniture in the bedrooms is outdated (not what you'd expect from a 5 star). The beach is very nice. The food was great. The entertainment was good too.
