What to do after the ceremony?

Hi Ladies,

 

We're planning a destination wedding at Sandals Ocho Rios in Jamaica and I was wondering what you did / what you're planning for after the ceremony. My fear is that the wedding will be anticlamactic....we'll get married on the beach, it'll be beautiful...then what??

 

I'm looking for ideas for what to do. I've heard from my travel agent that Sandals is fairly accomodating! So far I've thought of renting a boat for a sunset cruise for all our guest...but that's all I can think of, and it's a little bit expensive. Any ideas?

I know what you are saying. I felt the same way and to be honest with you, the resort kinda dies early. There is sooo much to do in the sun and and the sun sets so early that by 10pm you will be ready for bed....lol. Since my wedding consisted of myself, my husband and another couple I did not want to make elaborate plans. I decided to just wing it checked on the evening entertainment. We ended up going to listen to others karaoke. I know totally redneck but we had a blast! Then we headed over to the night club which we were the only ones there by the end of the night. It was great. We had the bartender to our selves which provided for enough entertainment itself :-) Before heading back to the Rivera side we ended up in one of the pools siding down the slide in our clothes. It honestly was some of the most fun I have ever had and we all just kinda went with the flow of things. I think I was just sooo relaxed cause the wedding was over!

There is my story but I am sure you want something alittle....well more. How many do you have in your group and what are their interests? What time are you getting married?

We booked the three hour reception after the ceremony. We are expecting between 20 - 30 people. After the reception, we plan on heading to the night club. Our ceremony takes place at 5:00pm.

How was the music in the night club? What time does it open?

After my ceremony and reception (we had the reception offsite) half of my guests (parents, older folks, etc.) went to the piano bar and had a ball and the other half (us and all the younger people) met up at the Manor side pool and did some lounging, night swimming and volleyball. It was nice to just hang out and chill after all the festivities.

 

I think it's a good idea to keep things laid back, that day will fly by like a blur and it will be the chill moments that mean the most in the end. (taking time with your family and friends for unplanned bonding.)

We upgraded to the one hour reception. We had 12 people besides us at our wedding. After the reception we went and took a bunch of pictures--most of our guests were in the ocean/pool within an hour lol! We actually went back and changed after our pictures and took a nap and then got up and got ready and went to dinner. After dinner we spent some time at the piano bar and then in the little loft thing at the Manor Pool (SGOR). It was more laid back, but the entire trip was special to us because it was our wedding trip. I wouldn't change a thing!

Dont forget that the sun can take a lot out of you too. If your gonna be there in the sunshine for a few days prior you may get tired early. I am typically a night owl but when I am on vacation I can be a loser falling asleep super early after some days in the sun!
