How to crossfade your playlist on ipod - i.e. no break between songs

Thank you!  We're going to use an ipod but don't actually have one yet...good to know what we should get!  FI said he wanted a nano to use at the gym anyone but I'm getting an iphone so I thought we could just use that...guess he wins this one!
