Has anyone read any reviews about how the blood test was? Now that it's getting a little closer I'm starting to get a bit nervous about that.

We're doing the legal wedding too.  I'm definitely not looking forward to the blood test!  I remember reading a couple's review somewhere that you need to take cash because they had to pay for the test directly.  They also suggested getting a receipt so you don't get charged a second time by the resort.

I think I've read that review too. I've pretty much exhausted reading every review there is out there I think. :)

I once got blood taken and bruised super badly so I'm a little nervous about how it will go. I'll let you know once I get back :)

I bruise too so I'm a little worried about that too.  Hopefully if it's done at the beginning of the week it'll look ok by the wedding.  I did some searching on this site, just putting in "mexico blood test" and everyone that posted said it wasn't bad at all.  Everyone said it was very clean and professional.  Made me feel a lot better.  So many people say they do the ceremony before they leave so I was starting to worry I was crazy for doing it this way.

I'm doing a legal ceremony as well and am also nervous about the blood test!  I'm so glad to read that others are feeling the same way.  Does anybody know if it is possible to meet with the judge the day before to go over the ceremony?  My fiance and I want to say our own vows as well and we aren't sure how this will fit in with the rest of the ceremony.  Also, does anyone know who if anyone is available to translate the ceremony?

I saw the doctor's office at the resort. It looked legit so I don't think you have to worry about it. I think they might come to your room to do it, not sure. Just the bruising could be a problem, but hopefully not KC.

Jen-I don't think you would be able to get the judge to come to the resort the day before your ceremony. The minister would be the one performing the ceremony and I doubt you would be able to get them to come either. I think they have a limited amount of people performing ceremonies and they do them every day. BUT, I would take an extra copy of your ceremony (vows) with you to give to the wedding coordinator. She will ask for them in your meeting with her. She will make sure that the minister has them. The minister will direct you and the groom during the ceremony. She will let you know when it is time to say your vows. It will be flawless. They do it all the time and they do a beautiful job.

As for translation the ceremony will most likely be in English. If for some reason it is done in Spanish, they will provide a translator. I saw several weddings when I was there and they were all done in English. If you need it translated to some other language, you might want to check with your wedding coordinator. I would think they would have German, French, and Italian translators as well. Good luck!

Thanks Beach Bride!

So there is a judge and a minister performing the ceremony?  Cecilia just sent me the script that the judge reads but I'm guessing that the minister has a different one?  I am happy to hear the ceremony is done in English - I was under the impression that it had to be done in Spanish.

Do you know how long the legal ceremony is supposed to be?  Cecilia said it was about 30 minutes.

I could be wrong about this, but I thought when you make your marriage legal in Mexico that you will actually have 2 'ceremonies' there. There would be a legal one at the court house with the judge, (which i thought was done in spanish). And a symbolic one on the beach, gazebo, church etc. by a minister/officiant. Ladies, is that correct?
