I agree with you, also in the day the beach is less crowded then the pool and the canopy is in the extreme side of the beach, at the end of the property where there aren't chairs

I think you girls are talking me into it!  I have to talk to the Fiance about it and figure out the shoe situation, as silly as it sounds.  I already bought some expensive heels and if I now have to make my dress shorter, I probably won't be able to wear them.  What is everyone wearing for their beach ceremony?  Sandals, bare feet?

I did bare feet. I bought heels to wear for the cocktail hour and reception, but ended up going barefoot the entire time. I don't think anyone noticed. There were a few guests that i noticed were barefoot during the reception as well.

I agree!!! KC . . join us beach ceremony girls ! I am also a 'heels lover', but I plan to use my gorgeous shoes for my bridal portraits (being done in Houston the month before), and I will bring them for photos at the resort pre-ceremony (with the "i do" stickers and such), and have them as an option to wear for my reception (which is being held by the pool in the gazebo area).

 

For the ceremony, we will either be barefoot (as I have read that if you try to wear shoes on the beach, you just end up kicking sand up in side your long dress, EW), or wear those fun barefoot sandals. I have five girls in my wedding party, so it gets expensive to purchase 6 pairs of the barefoot sandals.  I  have seen many brides DIY the barefoot sandals, and I am contemplating whether or not to take on the task!!!!!

 

Has anyone had any experience making their own barefoot sandals???  I think they are so cute, but for about $30 each (times six pairs), that is kind of expensive for a 20 minute ceremony .  .especially with ALL of my other costs adding up!  Plus my girls dresses are also long, so you wont even really be able to see them!

Thanks Laura!   I just started paying attention to what other girls are doing with shoes for beach weddings and I think I'm leaning towards what you said.  I'll wear the heels for pictures and pre-ceremony, then maybe just barefoot for the ceremony. I love the barefoot sandals!  Hopefully I won't trip on my dress!   Oh I think you girls talked me into it!

 

p.s.  I might have told you this already, but I LOVE those bridesmaid dresses!

Hey Lola, I actually wore barefoot sandals. One of my bridesmaids bought them for us and surprised us with them in Mexico. She brought them from abiddabling.com and yes they are a little pricey. My two girls had short dresses so you could see them the entire time. Not sure if mine showed in the pics or not bc I haven't received my wedding photos yet.

I have had the same situation, I have bought high shoes , elegant of satin and I couldn't use in the beach Sso I have bought a pair of white wedges with some crystals deoration and I have put on in the beach.

When I came back from the beach for the gazebo reception I switched the shoes.

 

I have done the  wedding dress trial with both shoes and since difference was only 2-3 cms, it suits well with both the solutions.

I have done my owne barefoot sandals but at the end I haven't  used for the cermony but only some days after when I have taken some pictures on the beach.

In any case, make barefoot sandals is VERY easy and inexpensive, let me know if you want any idea or explanations, I have collect some pictures before make my pairs.

I really love your set up! My color is similar to yours, but a bright pink! I am (or was) supposed to have my wedding at the gazebo at 4pm. All this talk about the new canopy set up, and people being at the beach vs. the pool is making me consider changing my location too. The new canopy is beautiful!

 

The reason I chose the gazebo is because I was worried about not being able to hear the ceremony over the sound from the ocean, and it being more windy. My mothers ONLY request was that I wear a veil, I really didn't want to because of the wind, but I figured that since it meant so much to her I would wear one.

 

Did you have a sound system? And was the ocean very loud and windy?
