Amazingly Romantic Proposal

My fiance and I had been together for almost 5 1/2 years when we spent a week together at the Excellence Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in October 2008. My birthday happened to fall on our first full day there. That evening, he insisted on taking me for a walk along the beach before dinner. The setting was perfect - the beach was lit only by the moon and stars, and the waves crashed rhythmically in the background. After gazing at the stars and the waves for a few minutes, I turned to him, and commented that it was a perfect moment (having absolutely NO idea what was coming!). He told me that he loved me, and embraced me. He then pulled back, and reached into his pocket. "I have something to ask you..." He then got down on one knee in the sand, and looking up at me, asked me if I would marry him. I apparently responded with "I can't beleive this is happening!" before starting to cry, and joining him on my knees in the sand. I continued to repeat, "Oh my God..., Oh my God..." for several minutes, before he interrupted and exclaimed, "Are you going to say yes?!" I did.

Thank you everyone It was hilarious after, by the way - I essentially an around the resort telling everyone I saw that I was engaged. lol We'd been together for 5 1/2 years, and he had known for 5 of those years that I wanted to marry him. It was the happiest moment of my life!
