Dress Shopping on Saturday

Recommended Posts

Great pick Courtney keep us posted on your hunt.

It seems like we all go in thinking one style and come out with a completely different gown. You need to really see the gowns on before you decide. I remember when I was in one of the bridal shops that girl from the bachelor was in there (city tv host now) and every single dress she was trying on looked like heaven. I was in awt... finally I figured out where I knew her from and I felt like a creep. haha ANYWAYS I tried on one of the same dresses she did and I was so disapointed... i looked horrible in it.

Everyone is flattered by different styles and colors. (ivory, white, diamond white, gold?

I know, i kept saying I was going to get something simple, and I didn't, ha!

courtney, that dress is very pretty! Isn't it so much fun trying on different dresses, I think I went 6 times all together, to different stores, some more than once, and then ended up not even buying a dress from any of them! Talk about indecisive!

Courtney~ The dress you picked is beautiful! I also thought I'd get a not-so-poofy dress, but ended up with a pretty poofy one. I think the most important thing is that you feel fantastic in the dress and if it has poofy, what the hay. Keep us posted on your search....you still have lots of time to look! Glad to hear you had fun!!

Thanks ladies! It really was a lot of fun, and I HATE shopping. Both my mom and I were feeling really tired before we went, but once we got to that second place we were having a blast. The lady who was helping us kept putting veils and necklaces on me. It's fun playing dress-up!

Ya, I'll for sure post more when we go again. None of the salons let us take pictures, which I kind of expected, but oh well. lol on Saturday I dreamt about the dress!! Sad? I kind of think so! I'm definately going to keep on looking, and if I don't find anything better then I'll get this one, which I really love! At least now I have a benchmark (and it's high!).

I actually thought poofy would look funny on the beach, but then I saw Christa's pictures and it didn't look out of place at all, so now it's definately a consideration!

Thanks for your help and comments ladies, I'll keep you posted! :)

The one that I went to that was crowded and horrible service was Ethos on 17th. The awesome one is called Beautiful Bride. It's right across from Chinook Center (in the same building as Spence Diamonds lol). They had a little less selection, but still a good variety. And the girl that helped me there was Simone, she was awesome! :)

Do have any suggestions? Where did you go?

Hey! Thanks Nini!

I went to Ethos in Calgary - and it was Bridal Pandamonium!! insane!!

I've also been to S2 in Calgary. It was fantastic! It is a very small boutique shop downtown off of 12th Ave. It carries mid range to more expensive dresses (including Waters, pronovias and cymbeline) but the service was fantastic. They only take appointments, and will only take up to 2 at a time. They also include all alteration costs in the dress price.

Thanks for the tip on BB - I will most definitly check it out! I've seen it - but never stopped in yet!

Great, thanks Jennette! I like the idea of having to make an appointment actually - that way I know I'll get service! Do you have to book for a certain amount of time? It seems like time just slips away when dress shopping! Seriously, 2 hours felt like 20 minutes. So, do you suggest I mention an amount of time I plan to be there?

Also, do you have their contact information?
