Hi Everyone! Sorry itâ€s taken me a few days to post. I finally have a minute while Hannah is sleeping. Iâ€ll try and make this as short as possible.

Also, Thanks Lisa for letting everyone know little Hannah made it ok. (Maybe a mod can merge these two threads)

Hannah Marieâ€s Birth Story

We went in for a scheduled induction at 6:30 AM on Wednesday the 5th. We were pretty exhausted since it was a pretty exciting night the night before (election night). When I got there I was already 4 CM dilated and about 70% effaced. They immediately hooked me up to an IV to start getting fluids and the pitocin in me. The contractions became regular very quickly. They were pretty mild contractions and I was not in too much pain. I had already planned on getting an epidural so I talked to the nurse and she suggested that I shouldnâ€t wait to get it since I was already a 4 and the labor could go quickly. She assured me that it would not stall my labor. So I decided to go ahead and get the epi even though the contractions were bearable. After the epi, I could barely feel the contractions, just a slight pressure. About 2 hours went by and the nurse came to check me. I was still a 4! I started worrying and regretting getting the epi. About 30 minutes later I started getting pain in my right side only. My whole left side was still numb. I was scared that the epi was not going to work properly for the delivery so they sent the dr. back in to give me more pain meds since they thought Hannah wouldnâ€t be there until later that night. An hour later I was still feeling contractions on my right side. The nurse checked me and I had jumped to a 6 in that short time. The nurse sent the dr. back in again to up my dosage of epi medicine. About another hour later I was STILL feeling pain on my right side. At this point I was FREAKED that I was going to feel the actual birth (my biggest fear)! The nurse started getting suspicious and decided to check me. Sure enough I was at a good 8 and very soft! She said her head was very close. She started rushing around getting the room ready for Hannahâ€s arrival and I started getting worried because Steve had left to go and pick up my stepson from school. I called him and told him to HURRY! My doctor came in a few minutes after Steve got back and she said, WOW, Karma! Youâ€re a full 10 and ready to push!! Everyone was shocked because I basically went from a 6 to a 10 in no time. Luckily, by this point I was completely numb but they thought that I wouldnâ€t be able to push too well since I had so much epi medicine in me at that point. Again they were wrong! The doctor said she was going to try a few practice pushes during my contractions. Well it turned out that those practice pushes were the real deal! After only 3 pushes Hannah came out. It literally took about 10 minutes of pushing! I tore slightly because Hannah had her hand by her head, but that was it.

She was born at 2:55 that afternoon and she weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces. What is funny is that our wedding date was 7/7! She was 19 ½ inches. I think she looks like her Daddy and most people seem to agree.

It was such a amazing feeling birthing my daughter. When they placed her on my stomach I immediately began crying tears of joy! It really was the biggest rush ever. So far she has been a pretty good baby. She LOVES attention though, and hates to be laid down. Breastfeeding has been tough and Iâ€m seeing a lactation consultant, but the work is worth all the extra benefits I know she is getting. We are completely in love with her and couldnâ€t be more pleased with the way things worked out.

Thatâ€s about it…. I know you guys are waiting for pics so here they are! Sheâ€s a little jaundiced so she is a little orange in some of them.

Big Thanks to everyone for being there since the day I found out I was pregnant, especially all the girls in the Mommies to be thread! I couldnâ€t have made it through the last nine months without all of your support!

Congratulations! She is beautiful... and I have to agree she looks like daddy. Mine looks like her dad too... maybe when we have boys they'll look like us, right! Your birth story sounds almost exactly like mine.... although I waited for quite a while before epi. I ended up having Caterina 1.5 hours after epi. And, the pain on the one side is completely normal. At least that's what my doc told me, I had it on the right side as well. I couldn't feel any pain, I could tell where her head was the whole time, but no pain.

She is beautiful and seriously.... LOVE the hospital gown!

Enjoy every minute with her, they go by too fast!
