Failed blood tests, Panama wedding

Recommended Posts

Thanks to everyone for your help. The information is very helpful. We are waiting for more information from the embassy as they have changed some things for next year. I'll share anything else we find out. I'm sure it will help others down the road.

In case you were wondering -

hemoglobin electrophoresis and hematic biometry (we don't usually use this term in US) just test for types of anemia like sickle cell or sickle cell trait. VDRL tests for syphilis.

Urinalysis would test for protein or blood, but you'd probably know about this already or have other problems. They can test urine for other STDs but I'm guessing they would tell you that.

They can test HIV rapid in 30 minutes or so in the US now, but they don't say that.

There is no simple test for fertility - they could test hormone levels, but that is getting pretty complex and varies a lot during your cycle, etc.

BTW, I am a doctor so I thought I'd help explain.. What I think is if you are healthy and don't have an STD, you'll be fine so don't stress :)

Hello! I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you are able to find an answer soon, so you can have peace of mind.

I'm sure that it all will work out in your favor. I don't mean to sound cynical, but being from Panama, I can tell you that rules can always be bended with a little $$ in hand....

That is sad. Or even if you do have anemia or something else. If you have disclosed health issues to your SO, and they want to marry you, its so sad to think that they would deny you.

I didnt have to worry about this, because my secret wedding was in Vegas, and my lord do they make it easy to get married there!!! I can totally see how people get drunk and do it!

wow, that is irony to think about! cancel wedding if you are pregnant. or cancel wedding cuz you cant have kids. I mean cant one continue the wedding even if one fails the test as long as the other person accepts the issue?
