How did you pick your resort?

Recommended Posts

Me and my husband will renew our vows

in Playa del Carmen/Cancun in june of 2010.

Im from Europe and have only been to

Playa once (we stayed at Viva Wyndham Azteca).

My husband is American and he has spent

a couple of spring breaks in Cancun.

I presume he wasn't thinking about

looking for future wedding venues during

his spring breaks so he's not of much help.

My question is.. How did YOU pick your wedding

resort?! We have a baby girl who's only 6months

so to go down there to visit the resorts are not an

option. How do you know what resort is

THE ONE for you?! huh02.gif

We picked the Iberostar Paraiso Beach for a few reasons:

- Kid friendly (two nephews ages 3 & 1 will be coming with us)

- Decent price

- some of our guests have been there before and had only great things to say about it

- Good food (or so I've heard, especially at the Japanese a la carte)

So that sums it up in a nutshell for me...hope that helps! :)

We chose the resort due to several TA's suggesting it as a great place for us. We wanted someplace fun and budget friendly for our guests. We had been to 2 different DW's in Cancun and Punta Cana, and both of those were very similar... we wanted something a little bit different.

Right now we are leaning towards the Grand Palladium but until we do the site visit we won't decide for sure.

#1 thing to do is get a good travel agent. What we did was filled out a questionnaire from our Travel Agent about what we were looking for, it was very extensive. He is narrowing down and getting information about resorts for us. Then we will go through all of the ones he sugguest, narrow down which ones we want to see on our site visit and then FINALLY select one.

If you look in my siggy I have a link to all my templates including the one from the travel agent that has all our answer in it. Might help you to look through it. Carla wink.gif

Wow Carla good information.

I narrowed mine down by what paperwork had to be done. I had orginally planned on Punta Cana, but after reading how all the paperwork had to be translated into Spanish, I decided that was not for me. So I took the wedding brochure I had and looked up what requirements were needed for the islands I was interested in. For me Jamaica was the easiest. From there I decided on a resort and read every review I could get my hands on and in the end we decided on Rui Ocho Rios.

Good luck with your search
