Secrets Capri - "Official Thread"

Hello...

I am getting married at Secrets on May 8th and I have to say that I have had the best communication with Alejandra and feel as though she knows and understands exactley what I need and want. Each time I make a change or an update, she resends to me an updated agreement reflecting all the pictures that we discussed, etc. We are getting married on the beach and when we were engaged there we saw another wedding at the gazebo and both were beautiful. The hotel is smaller than most and the beach is private so there are not many people coming and going in the area. Our reception is going to be poolside on the back side of the hotel...by the beach. I just thought that the sand and dim light might be a little uncomfortable for dinner. We are also having our reception poolside which I am really excited about all the dancing outside it doesn't really bother me who sees us having fun and celebrating. We are hosting a Welcome Dinner and this quaint mayan restaurant in town (I will post details). After the welcome dinner some may go out in town...and I am sure some will stay out later than others...HA! We are getting married on Friday night so that we will still have all day/night Saturday to just relax with our friends and family that make the trip. The hotel prices are really good right now...are guest are exicted!

Hello...

Attached are some files that I have received from Alejandra the 'secrets additional items' document list the price for the bonfire, fireworks, chair bows, etc. The music options list the services/types of music provided and the cost. The last attachment is for the resort photographer Juan Navarro. I hope that this helps.

This may be a bit late coming....I choose to get married at DPA in that it has a smaller intimate feel to it but allows kids (as there is 1 coming), but we are going to Secrets Capri for our second week as a 'honeymoon'. I got the feeling that Secrets was much more oriented towards couples and our single friends may not enjoy that as much as a non-adults only resort. Just my 2 cents, but I wish you all the best in planning your wedding!!

Hi girls!

We are still working with Alejandra regarding our contract. And you are right, she is not the quickest in her e-mail replies, but I think that may just come with getting married in Mexico.

I think we have chosen a date...Saturday, November 7th, 2009. I notice that some girls are getting married on Fridays. Is this because of the Mexican theme night on Saturday nights? If you get married on a Friday, does that mean your witnesses have to arrive on the Friday beforehand (if they must be there four full business days before the wedding)?

We are getting married on the beach. Alejandra sent me choices of the beach casita or beach canopy (additional charges). Does anyone know the difference? On her map, she circled the beach ceremony and reception site as the fareast corner of the resort. Is the Mexican theme night on the south side of the pool? Also, she has an area circled on her map directly east of the pool on the beach but only for the ceremony, I think.

And lastly, we are thinking about having the reception on the beach as well. We have been told that we cannot have a plated dinner on the beach, only in the ballroom. Is anyone else having their reception on the beach?

We still have so many questions, and I figured that you girls might be able to give me a little quicker of a response time :)

I am getting married on Friday so that our guests can have Saturday to recover and then go home fresh on Sunday. I hate traveling after a night of drinking, so we choose Friday to avoid that. I think Michelle had the same idea. We are both in Texas, so flights home on Sunday are typical.

I'm pretty sure the Mexican Theme night is limited to La Riviera (the buffet) with a night time dance show in the ballroom. There was a tequila tasting by the pool, but it was earlier - like 4pm. At least that is how it was on our site visit over halloween weekend last year.

We are getting legally married here in Texas with a symbolic ceremony at Secrets, so Im not sure about the witness rules.

Beach Casita vs. Canopy: Im pretty sure the Casita is the wooden structure that is permanantly on the beach. Im not sure about the canopy though.

I'm not sure what mean by "fareast". The ocean/beach is on the east side of the hotel. I posted a map in post #6 I think. At the bottom left is a heart that shows you were the beach ceremony is. Its the far south-east corner of the hotel.

We are having buffet at the reception, but not on the beach. All pics that I've seen of beach receptions have buffet.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Thank you for all of your insight! It's always nice to compare notes. What would we do without the internet and this forum??

My fiance and I have spent over 2 months researching and trying to find the perfect resort for our group. Secrets was voted the best all-inclusive by Apple Vacation (golden apple 6) but because we have a diverse crowd coming and spanning different age groups we decided to go with Moon Palace. We initally avoided it strictly because of its size but that aside, it has everything that we're looking for, including the gazebo that can hold all of our guests. The options for our guests are limitless but frankly, I think they'll enjoy themselves no matter which resort we pick...they'll be on vacation!! Another factor is that although I like to think that I'm laid back, I really do like consistency and for me, I need a WC that's quick to respond.

I want to wish you the best of luck DallasAshli--your wedding is right around the corner. I can't wait to read your review!! Secrets is gorgeous!! And good luck to the rest of you getting married there!
