Hola Ali,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!! Here are a few of my favorite Sandos moments to help you dream about your big day and give you some ideas:

 

 

 

 

 

For those of you planning a beach wedding, ask Lupita for the area by the Elite Papala and try to book your ceremony at least 1.5 hours prior to sunset. This will not only save you and your guests from mid-day heat and onlookers but will also give you perfect lighting conditions for your sunset portraits.

Question for past brides, I'm wanting to give all our guests a welcome letter with a timeline of our wedding day, I'm trying to decide what would be easier, having them be put in their check in booklets or if they can be put in everyones room. Has anyone done either of these?? Second question, is it necessary to have the microphone and speakers in the Italian restaurant or could you go without? Just curious. Any info would be great!!! Thanks

We went to everyones rooms the day after we arrived just before supper when we knew they would be in.

We had the italian resturant to our selves and we did need a sound system for the speaches. Even if it is open, you're in your own room so I don't think it would be required.

I did a full review of the hotel which you can read but I'll repost the wedding portion here.

 

Wedding

Organisation started months in advance with the help of the dedicated wedding coordinator Lupita. We had a meeting with her on the second day of our trip. The meeting entailed confirming times and details and paying for the minister. We were thinking about buying flowers in town but the price she quoted us in the meeting was reasonable and I'm really glad we got them from the hotel. They were perfect.  We were married in the wedding pavilion that overlooks the beach at 4:00. We chose this location for several reasons: one the wind on the beach was very strong and would make the microphone useless. Two, the Mexican government charges a fee for all beach weddings, Three, being on the hotel grounds and not public beach there was security lining the route and around the pavilion so there were no spectators in the photographs. On the beach you risk having some guy in a speedo in all your pictures. We saw a wedding later in the week on the beach and I wonder if the guests heard anything at all due to the wind. The location was beautifully decorated in the colors we chose.

 

The day of the wedding the bridal party participated in the yoga class. I don't think we were very zen as we all had a major case of the giggles, but it was a great start to the day. The wedding was at 4:00 which seems like there's lots of time but hair and make-up and eating all take up a lot of time. I did my own hair and make-up and that of my step-daughter. This was a cost saving initiative but I'm also very picky and wanted to be in control of how much make-up I was wearing. It turned out great so I'm glad I saved the money. We ordered room service as I didn't want to go to the buffet in curlers.
Lupita delivered the flowers around lunch and then there was a flurry of prepping and dressing. The photographers arrived at 2 took some pictures of prepping and then split up. One photographer went to see the boys and then take my fiance to the fountain in the courtyard for our first look photos. The first look photos were really worth it.

Lupita's assistant returned at 3:45 to take us on our walk around to the wedding pavilion. Everything was well timed and organised by the hotel staff. there was someone in charge of playing the music from my iPod. I did notice though, that you could still hear the music from the Mediterranean buffet. You might ask that it be turned down for the ceremony.

The minister made us feel very comfortable and we liked the service she did. There was a champagne toast after the ceremony and we took pictures on the beach before the reception.

The reception was in the Italian restaurant which was closed the week we were there. But, that was actually great news as we had the whole place to ourselves with some wonderful servers. We got our food from the main buffet, the two are connected. We had plans to go to the disco after, but ended up just hanging out in the boulevard. I wouldn't change a thing about that day, the staff and the location made it unforgettable not just for my husband and I but for all our guests too.

Wow everyones photos look amazing! I can't wait to get there! My wedding day is on April 26th..

 

I think I have everything pretty much done except I need to figure out my songs for the ceremony.. I have the song picked that I want to walk down the isle to but for the rest of the ceremony/champage toast songs, does anybody have any ideas??? I am not good at this!

Hi Ladies! I'm not quite yet a Playacar bride as I'm still debating between Playacar and the caracol eco resort. I have yet to see any wedding pics for the Caracol resort which freaks me out, I need reassurance that things will go my way, lol. BTW the pics I've seen on here for Playacar are beautiful! 

 

So how did you all decide on a resort? What set Playacar above the rest?

 

A little about our family: We like to party, not obnoxiously, but we are all in our 20's - 30's that will be coming down and we like to have a good time! We will be arriving 2/23/13 with a ceremony date 2-3 days later. One concern is dancing, we all love to get down, lol can i have a private "reception"? 

 

I would app recite any advice regarding the Sandos properties and if anyone has an opinion on rowdiness or the lack of, I want to hear all your thoughts! I must make my decision very soon!

We are leaving in a week to go down, we have a large party (73 people) and the majority are all in our 20s. I will let you know on the rowdiness or lack of it when Im back at the end of April. 

 

We chose this resort because it was a smaller resort, not as many weddings and the wedding planner is AMAZING!!!! There was nothing but great things said about Maria (who is no longer there) and Lupita which made me really comfortable with all the planning. And the pictures I have seen of the beach set up is beautiful, I fell in love lol

 

You can do a private reception, I cant remember the prices (it is extra) you can email Lupita and she would let you know. We are just going to go to the disco after our reception as we didnt feel we needed to pay extra for a private one. It worked better for our budget.

I look forward to hearing about your big day and maybe see soem pics My budget is  a huge factor in my planning, we are on a tight tight tight budget. So with that said I am curious to know what ppl are paying a night per couple for there room? My wedding is not till 2/2013 so the resorts don't have those prices out yet. I have decided against a private dance as it will probably be more fun to party with the other resort guests!
