Being the last resort along the Playacar beach, the Sandos has a lot of privacy and is great for a beach ceremony.  As for the photographer fees, it is always a good idea to discuss these matters in detail with your coordinator, there are often creative ways around such issues and if photography is important to you, you should fight to have your day your way!

The beds are HORRBILE! they are really hard and we couldnt wait to get to our honeymoon resort to have better beds.  Sorry to say but everyone in my group (34 of them) complained about the beds and so did other people that we met on the resort.

Sorry to give you bad news..

I told him I'd try and find out but not to get his hopes up haha.

There are TONS of outside flower shops in Playa. I had my mom looking at things down there for me last time she was there and she found a place that had HUGE bouquets for like $20, I'll ask her what the name of the place was and get back to you.

There is one swim up bar - its in the adult only area of the resort - but you can only go there if you are in the adults only rooms.  Or have the black or gold bracelets.  It is at thev ery back of the reosrt - about 8 mins from the beach.  Its nice but we never used it and it wa always dead in there.  Most people were in the ocean not the pools.  Hope that helps!

well thats a pain! My man was SO unimpressed to hear you have to have to have the right bracelet for the swimup bar. He figures we should have access to the whole resort if we're paying for it. Silly, considering when we were in mexico last I don't think we didn't even use the swim up bar once. He's even more unimpressed about the beds now. He's had the "It's up to you" attitude up until now...after I've done a rediculas amount of research and have basically narrowed it down to this resort and now he's starting to care about silly little things lol. Ugh..boys!  Congratulations by the way! Can't wait to hear your review for your wedding!

So I finally have some time to get this review done. I unfortunately do not have any photos to post just yet as there was a death in our family and our photographer is my mother in law so she needs to take care of her fatherâ€s estate prior to us getting our photos. RESORT - The resort itself is quite large and spread out. Most of our guests were in the beach section and they loved being so close to the pools, buffet restaurants and ocean. A few of our guests were put in the middle of the resort in the hacienda rooms. Most of these complexes were made up of 6 rooms and their own small pool. Some even had their own hot tub. They seemed great to have if you wanted a slow quiet day. My husband and I along with his father and wife were upgraded to the adultâ€s only section of the resort. The rooms were amazing and there was an adults only pool with swim up bar right outside every room, however the only down fall is that they are far from everything. We didnâ€t mind the walking or taking the shuttle back and forth but by the end of the week we were kind of wishing we were in the beach section with everyone else. The only good things about being upgraded into the adults only section was the following: use of adults only pool, use of the select club bars (premium alcoholic beverages) and the use of some restaurants that only the black and gold bracelets could use. The resort itself was beautiful, clean and there was quite a bit to do. There was always something going on at the pool and although the pool chairs filled up quickly, you could always find somewhere on the beach under a palapa. BEACH – the beach was beautiful. If you go to the right of the resort you can walk for miles on the unspoiled beach. It was very windy every day we were there but bc it was so hot we welcomed the breeze. It also made it fun to play in the waves; however I would not suggest this for small children bc the waves sure packed a punch. RESTAURANTS – The Italian buffet was closed when we arrived due to a broken oven. We were told that it would be this way for at least a month. This worried us as we were supposed to have our wedding dinner there but I will get into that later. The service was very good and the food at the buffet was good. It wasnâ€t great but it was good. I just found that it basically was the same food day in and day out. There is another buffet right by the pool that is open for breakfast and lunch too and we went there most days for lunch bc they seemed to have more for us to choose from. The pizzas there were great and everyone loved the hamburgers. I know, you donâ€t go to mexico for the hamburgers, but they were surprisingly good. Also the tortilla chips and the guacamole was great! Im surprised I didnâ€t gain any weight on this trip, but it was probably bc of all the walking we did. Lol The ala carte restaurantâ€s were pretty good. French restaurant A+, Mexican A+, Asian A, Mediterranean A, Brazilian C. Most of my guests complained about the Brazilian restaurant, so I would avoid it if you can. Make your ala carte reservations as soon as you get there bc they are difficult to come by for the regular dinner times. SPA – I didnâ€t use any of the actual spa services, but did use the salon for my hair. Although the girl did a very good job on my hair, and everyone loved it, I didnâ€t really get what I wanted. Everyone assures you the stylists speak English, but they definitely do not. Bring lots of pictures to show what you want so that you get what you want. It cost me $120US for my hair and to have my extensions put in. LUPITA – We met with Lupita the day after our arrival and she was right on time. We went over everything we had discussed in my previous emails and she clarified some of our information and what we were wanting. I gave her all of my items that I needed at the wedding location as well as the reception, along with my IPOD for the music and everything was placed exactly where I wanted it. I wasnâ€t sure what the symbolic ceremony set up was but it was beautiful. No matter which package you pick, if you get married on the beach you will have the whole set up you see in the pictures she sends you. The white draping from the palapas, the chair ribbons, the tiki torches, the table set up at the front of the aisle. We chose not to do a chuppa as the ocean was beautiful enough of a backdrop. We saw one later in the week with the chuppa and I was glad I didnâ€t pay the extra for it bc I think itâ€s a waste of money considering what you get. Lupita was great at answering all of our questions and once we were done with the meeting, I didnâ€t think about the wedding again until that day. She was amazing and did a great job! WEDDING - We got married on a Thursday and the wind actually calmed down for us. The whole week it had been asking for major rain on that day, but when the day came it was absolutely beautiful. Our ceremony was planned for 4:30 pm and it was perfect timing for our guests and ourselves. I wasnâ€t hot at all and considering my dress I thought I would be. The golf cart came to pick myself up along with my wedding party and drove us to the area where we met before the wedding. My husband was down on the beach with all of our guests waiting for us to arrive. The officiant was great and her English was quite good. I had given her my own ceremony script and she was able to learn it a few days before our wedding and she was quite impressed with the script. To the point that she came and spoke with me for about 10 mins after the wedding letting us know how proud she was to be apart of our wedding. She had done 400 weddings in the last 4 years and she said she had never been to a wedding like ours. She actually asked if she could use our script for weddings in the future. The only downfall I have with our wedding is the speaker system for the music. My song cut out right when I was walking down the isle bc they had problems with it. Not the end of the world, but a little disappointing. The set up was beautiful and I donâ€t have any complaints there. We choose the signature sandos drinks instead of the champagne for the wedding hut toasts and it too was fantastic. The display was very nicely done and all of my guests loved it. Nothing that I have done was an additional cost – it was all included. We did our photos to the right of the resort on the beach and we were planning on doing a trash the dress session the next day, but I just couldnâ€t bring myself to do it. There was another wedding at the same time and I didnâ€t want to get back into my dress, do my hair and then walk past one wedding to do my pictures. So we decided against it and most of my guests were relieved bc they didnâ€t want me to ruin my dress…lol Dinner was at the Italian restaurant. It actually worked out amazingly for us bc due to the closure of the restaurant, no other patrons were in it. We walked from the Italian restaurant to the other connected buffet and ended up having a private reception in the Italian restaurant. It was fantastic. The whole place to ourselves, with our own servers for our group and they were all very attentive. The cake was set up at the end of the room along with our guest book and photos of our family that couldnâ€t be there. We were very happy to have the private reception. I couldnâ€t imagine having it with all the other patrons on site in there too. So we were really happy! CAKE – we chose the vanilla and chocolate cake with the regular icing. No fondant bc we donâ€t like it. The cake was fabulous! Everyone loved it and it was very nicely done. Nothing super fancy but it totally worked and everyone ate it. People even came back for seconds. If I could have taken some to my room, I def would have….lol After dinner we went to the main bar across from the man buffet and had a few drinks and the kids enjoyed the entertainment prior to our departure to our fire show. I booked private transportation for our 34 guests to the FUSION hotel. Every night at 11:00pm they put on a free fire show on the beach. The hotel is quite small but has a great little bar that is also on the beach. It has a live band and we had a great time. Guests just needed to pay for drinks if they wanted any. The fire show wasnâ€t very long maybe 20 mins but it was great to see. All of my guests really liked the fire show and once it was over we made our way back to the resort. It was only a 10 min drive to and from the resort. By this point we were all exhausted so everyone said goodnight and we were off to bed. There was a nice surprise in our room upon our return. I wonâ€t tell you what it is bc I donâ€t want to spoil it for you. Next day we received breakfast in bed – nothing special – but nice to have. OVERALL – it was a great time, every one of our guests said they had a fantastic time and that it was one of, if not the best vacation they had been on in a very long time. We had a lot of people with us so I am sure that added to the experience. You do not need to worry about anything; everything is taken care of by lupita and her band of helpers. Everything is seriously taken care of for you so that you can relax and enjoy your trip. I hope I touched on everything that you would need to know, but if you have any questions let me know. I will post some pictures on here as soon as I have some back from my mother in law to give you an idea of what the setup is also like. Oh and the beds SUCK! They are super hard and so are the pillows. Everyone one of my guests along with complete strangers complained about the beds. So hopefully you arenâ€t there for sleep….lol. I called down to the front desk to ask for something for our bed and although they did come up and put a cushion thing of sorts on our bed – it really made no difference – that was the worst part of the whole trip. Our bed at our honeymoon resort was heaven so we were okay with a crappy bed at Sandos…lol
