Hi Krista Marie,

We are getting married on March 1, 2011.  I have been counting down since April 2009 which has given me a lot of time to do my research.  One of the reasons we are getting married at the Sandos Playacar is because they have so many options for weddings and the wedding coordinator is amazing.  My fiance and I went there last winter to check out the resort and they have been nothing but excellent to us.

Here is our wedding day agenda:

4:30pm - Mayan Ceremony on the Beach
5:00pm - Quick toast to bride and groom (we may do a shot of tequila instead of champagne).
5 - 6:30 - Wedding Pictures taken.
6:30 - 8pm - Semi-private dinner at Italian Buffet (they section off an area for our guests) - FREE
8pm-11pm - Reception at Disco (speeches, first dance, private party)  - This costs $280US per hour + 15% gratuity
11pm - Disco opens to public, we party with everyone else at the resort

We did a wedding website as well and sent out emails to everyone instead of official invitations.  Our website is www.jayandlindsay.ca if you want to check it out.

Happy Planning,

Lindsay

Hey guys

I am leaving to Mexico on Saturday! The wedding will be on Sept 2. I am really excited!! So far it has been really easy to be in contact with Maria.

I heard from a previous bride that got married at the Sandos a few months ago that instead of staying at the resort for the after party, she brought the whole crew to this club called Fusion.  They had a fire show and drinks all night. It's about 5 minutes from the hotel.

I saw her pictures and they are lovely!

Unfortunately I won't be able too do that since our Trash the dress session at the Cenote/under water is the next day at 8 am

Will keep you posted when I get back!

Ola,

Yes we went to the disco.  I will try to dig out some pics.  I did not notice that it smelled but there seems to be a lot of comments about it on this forum - lol.

The disco price includes everything.  They are even going to provide microphones, etc as my dad will be singing our first dance.  If you want to hire a live band that would cost extra though.

We are planning to have about 40 people, 30 of whom are staying at the resort so far. Our big decision right now is whether to use the resort photographer or not.  We only need one nice pic right :)

We have decided to use the resort salon and make up services to keep the wedding as stress free as possible - the whole reason for getting married in Mexico!

Now all I have to do is work my butt off in the gym :)

Cheers

Lindsay

Thank you SO MUCH Lindsay!  You just narrowed it down perfectly for me.  I've been reading everyoneâ€s comments/suggestions on here and I started feeling a little overwhelmed.

As for the photographer, I'm in the same boat as you.  It's not cheap and who knows how good they'll come out. BUT the one thing I've always wanted was good wedding pics, I could care less about ribbons, flowers, place cards, etc... So I might splurge on the photographer.

What are you going to have your guests do while you get pics taken?  Bar? Thats what I'm thinking.

Hey everyone! I am glad to see there is a little more going on in the forum now. I'm getting married at Sandos Playacar on December 18, 2010. Ah! My fiance and I met there when we were 12 and 13 years old so figured it was the perfect place to start our life together. Others feel differently but oh well.

I know you guys were talking about photography, have you had Maria email you any pictures done by the resort photographer? I wasn't all that impressed but then again I am all about my pictures! But I did find Octavio Montes who has amazing work with a quarter of the price of all the others plus I think you get the disk and printouts. Resort photographer just seemed pretty expensive to me also for what you get.

Hope this helps ladies and I look forward to chattin' with yall!

Yes you have to pay a day pass ($77) for them but I think it is worth it because you get so much more for his price versus the resorts photographer where you don't even get a cd of the pictures without paying a couple hundred first. The resorts charges $150 for 10 photos and no cd. I asked Maria and you cannot even make copies back home because they are copyrighted. Octavios prices start at $250 with cd and all prints included.
