It's pretty harsh if that's what you are going for. I understand you have to speak your mind, after all he's leaving you high and dry with not much notice!

 

I think we've all been there with guests backing out and spending their money on other things. My FI's sister and niece backed out for financial reasons which we totally understand but have since made rather large purchases on horse riding equipment and now are the proud owners of two horses (she's leasing them). And she took a trip to England this summer which couldn't have been cheap. It sucks but it's her money and if she would rather spend it that way that's her deal.

 

At the end of your message you say you are done with drama. I think by sending such a harsh response it's not going to end it. He's going to react and you'll eventually hash it out. I may tone it down a bit and not mention his house renovations. He made it sound like it cost more than he expected and budgeted for and that's the reason he can't make it. I do think it's important to address your feelings about the short notice and him being your photographer. And he wouldn't answer your calls, that's lame!

I don't think its harsh. It's no different from him laughing off the fact he can't come to the wedding. If he had been a bit apologetic I'd have probably tonned it down but its like well whatever this is what I'm doing so get him told is what I say lol

OMG people!! Did you not think of this BEFORE you booked an all inclusive trip that all the costs are laid out for you?? It's not like there were extra costs/fees that came up.

Hey Amanda, I've been away so I'm just catching up on this thread. Sorry you're in such a shitty situation. I don't think your email was too harsh. He was supposed to be your photographer, not just a wedding guest. Its totally unacceptable for him to act the way he has. He didn't apologize for leaving you in such a jam with not much notice to find an alternative. So, stick to your guns on this one.

I dont think your reply was harsh at all... imo anyway. You were just putting it all out there. Try to keep your eye on the prize, eh? Vacation, hubbie, beers, sand, beach, sun, other people that are actually coming with you 2. It still sucks that friends pull this shit, and believe me I feel your pain.

Thanks everyone! I still haven't heard back from Eric. He's probably trying to figure out what the hell to say to "make it better" - or he's pissed and doesn't want to speak to me period! In any case, I am going to go about my life & focus on the things & people that matter. Like the move (only 3 more days!!!), my FI, and the people that were responsible enough to be able to put away $1500 in a year!!! Oh...and of course Killick - who's getting the snip, snip this morning!!

Poor puppy! I think FI is having sympathy pains already!! hahahaha
