Help with AHR!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting married in September 2009, we are planning on having our AHR in October. Last night, my FH comes up with the bright idea to have the reception on Halloween since it falls on a Saturday next year. I'm not crazy about the idea of having a Halloween/Reception, but what do you think about it?

I actually think a lot of people would love it. It would give them something fun to do with dinner/dancing and it would have to be dark/morbid. On the other hand you might lose guests who want the dark/morbid parties... maybe mention that to FH?

One of my best friends is having his wedding on Halloween next year. I cant wait! It's going to be the best wedding ever - he's totally into Halloween, shitty B-horror flicks...etc. It suits his personality and his woman's.

I'd stop and think about how many parents you have with kids who woudl want to take their kids trick or treating. If you have mostly guests without kids then I say go for it!

Well it has to be a joint decision and based on you guys take on Halloween. Generally folks turn in early unless they are party folk especially if there is any chance for mischief, etc.

 

Go with your gut feeling based on what you know of your guests. You will make the right decision.

I think you could have a great time with a reception on Halloween, but it depends on you and your FI's personalities. Some people this would totally suit, where others not so much. If you are planning to have lots of kids there, I would also take this into consideration. Maybe have a candy bar there for them, or as a favor for the kids, you could give them a bag of candy, etc...
