Post here if you are getting married in Jamaica

Hi everyone! I am also a 2014 bride and my heart is set on Jamaica! I'm not actually engaged yet embarrest.gif but I've got the ok to start planning lol. I especially wanted to get start early because I'm a nusing student and the only time off I will have will be next summer! But I have no idea where to start!

I'm all over the place with locations....I was thinking Sandals, Negril Escape, RIU Negril, and my dream location would be the Couples Resort but it may be too pricey.

My main dilemma is price for my guests, I don't want them spending too much just to see us get married (I'm 24 and my bf is 28 so most of our friends are on a "limited" budget)

The most important thing to me is that my guests have an awesome experience! We're a low maintenance crew so we just want to eat, drink, and dance. I don't really care about the dress, there's no bridemaids, I just wanna have fun!

I'm excited to see everyone's weddings take shape!!

The first and best thing to do is to find a travel agent first. I work in hospitality so I know Travel Agents work for commission which means your price may be a little higher but they take a lot of the stress out of things when it comes to accommodations and they usually can tell you where your best bet is. I myself am like you we are not officially engaged yet because even though the ring has been purchased he wants it to be a real proposal but we wanted to give our guests and ourselves time to save on this wedding we started planning. Travel agents are also good because most of them only charge a 50 dollar deposit per person and people can make payments. That was another reason I chose to not do this thing without a travel agent. We are getting married at Iberostar Grand Rose Hall in Montego Bay because in the beginning my choice was Ocho Rios and Sandals but after talking to my TA who happens to also be a friend I grew up with she told me that Sandals weddings are usually more expensive. So I looked at my options and started doing research and found that I am happier with where we picked instead of Sandals. She has also helped me with information on passports and tips about the wedding. She is also giving great advice on how to make the most of our budget. We are having about 40 people that we are inviting and my TA says only half will probably come. We are low maintenance to but it still seems that things get to be a little bit expensive even without all of the bells and whistles but with a good TA you can make it work. Hope this helps. Even though 2014 seems a while away I feel the stress of planning already but have got a lot of great tips from the ladies on here so far.

@shanayjasmine14 Welcome you will find lots of support and viewpoints here at BDW, you will be happy that you started early. I chose moon dance villas in Negril because Negril is the "capital of casual" and I loved the relaxed vibe. I hope to see your plans unfold.

I LOVED the Moon Dance Villas weddings from just looking at the reviews!! I'm looking for something casual too! But it looks a bit pricey. How much did your guests pay if you don't mind me asking?

I am so in love with this site!!! LOL...I had the day off so I really got to look through a lot of the forums and I believe I have some great options!

I'm choosing between Tensing Pen(Negril),  Rockhouse(Negril), Villas Sur Mer(Negril),and Coral Cove(Little Bay), and Ideal Awhile(Negril).

Anybody have any opinions on any of these sites?A lot of the threads are older and I cant find a lot of reviews. They're all smaller "boutique" resorts which I really like. We're having no more than 20 ppl.

@Cherina Thanks so much! I am completely in love with Negril now! Lol
