Has anyone else from NJ ever got married in Jamaica? We are SOOOOOOOO confused as to how are legal documents are supposed to be finalized? I was told "recordable" documents in New Jersey (i.e. birth certificates and divorce decrees) cannot be photocopied and notarized by a notary public; the originals (with seals) have to be taken to the State notary office and "authenticated" that they are the originals issued by the county, municipality, etc. The only document that can be photocopied and certified as a copy is our passports. Any help is appreciated. We are approaching 3 months from the wedding date, and I don't want our documents to be returned from the Jamaican registry right before the wedding!

A good start would be to contact the locations that are in your top 5 and ask for the 2012/2013 costs and if they have your date available at the time you would like.
