Is this TACKY?

We have decided to have a wedding, just the two of us, on Maui. We had amazing engagement photos taken...........and wanted to send out an engagement announcement. We are both 40, I have been married previously, he has not. Most of his family lives in another country, and so he thinks the photo would be a nice touch. Is it distasteful to announce, with the date, and then state somehow that we will be married in a private sunset ceremony on Maui?

I don't think it's tacky. I think it's a good way to let your friends and family know you are getting married and at the same time that you would like your nuptials to be a private affair. This way nobody is waiting around for their invite.

I don't think it is tacky at all. I'm not sure that I would register or expect gifts under those circumstances, though. I think it is a great way to announce your engagement and explain your choice of privacy.

I don't think it's tacky either. I'd be glad that someone I cared about told me beforehand, even if it's a private ceremony, rather than finding out later.

I think its great and not tacky at all. If you plan on an AHR then you can add that to the announcement.

Nope not tacky at all. With all of his side in another country.. the pic is a perfect idea.

You know your friends and family, we don't. However my instict would be to give them a chance to share in your lovely pictures and see the happiness on your faces; and while you're at it - show us too and post those pictures up please!!

I say go for it! Especially since a lot of people live out of the country, I think a picture is a nice touch and way more personal. Ya know?
