Hi! My FH and I are going to be getting married in March of 2010. Our planning is a little weird as we are having to wait on his visa paperwork before we can make a definite date. So, I am trying to get as much information as possible because once he is here, we will get married quickly! I love some of the ideas a lot of you have posted and look forward to reading more!

Hey

i am coming over from the UK to get married in Vegas in Feb, I have never been to Vegas before and do not have a clue what to expect!

I have booked hotel (Signature at MGM Grand) and flights (US Airways) but have NOTHING else bought or booked!

Am looking at The Chapel of Flowers and MGM Grand for the ceremony.

We are having guests so don't want to move them from place to place!

My first question is -

Should I go for an outdoor ceremony in the early evening (what is the weather like in late Feb) or an evening candlelit ceremony?

Any help with the first dilema would be greatly appreciated!!

Both locations are nice. Not knowing what your budget is like or the amount of guests you have. The MGM Grand would be ideal for convenience--not having to transport or arrange such for guests etc..and their Terazza is beautiful. Little Chapel is also a pretty location and I am assuming would be probably less expensive than the Grand.

I was raised in Vegas for 15 years of my life and can tell you that February is going to be quite cold and windy. Most likely 40-50F. If guests are okay with being outside in the cold (depends on your definition of cold I suppose), then I'd go for the outdoor ceremony. The hotel walls should block most of the wind. Just depends on your preference. Good luck and congrats!

thank you!

we should have about 10 guests, I was hoping the day would run like this -

Daytime - pampering

Early Evening Ceremony - Chapel of Flowers, MGM Grand, Lakeside Gardens

Cocktail/Champagne Reception - Lakeside Gardens (if we have ceremony there) otherwise I have no idea - any recommendations of good bars for cocktails

Reception Meal - Think that we would like to have a meal and have the oppurtunity to do speeches - but no idea where! What are others doing regarding speeches and meals after the ceremony?!

Also my friend said that she has seen communal wedding receptions happening - is this true?! I think that something like this may be good as our wedding party is going to be small!

So questions for you -

1.Any reccomendations for cocktail/champagne reception venue? Any reccomendations for restuarant - are there any restuarants with a cocktail bar in them?

2. Are people having speeches - if so are you doing it during a meal at a public restuarant?

3. What is the New York New York Piano bar all about - i have heard alot of people mention this!?

I love this little place a little bit off of the strip (~5 min cab or limo ride). It's a tapas bar called Firefly and has wonderful, tasty tapas (little main dishes) and amazing sangria - great intimate setting and afforable. If you don't want to stay directly on the strip, that could be a good place for a rehearsal dinner or cocktail hour. Just rent a limo since you have few guests and have them take you over to Firefly, spend an hour or two there snacking and drinking and then move on to whatever hotel you want to spend the rest of the evening. You could always rent a table/lounge area at a popular club like Pure at Ceasar's or Skin at the Palms or something at the Luxor/Mandalay Bay since those are closest to MGM.

The firefly sounds perfect for a trip out the night before the wedding!

I also like the idea of booking a table at a nightclub - fabulous!

Think I am going to stick with the ceremony at The Chapel of Flowers and then drinks at one of the bars in MGM and then a meal at the Craftsteak ( the men love steak!)!! Is Craftsteak a chain like macdonalds or is it a nice restaurant?!

Then book a table at a club to party the night away!

As we are staying at signature MGM we are going to get the privledge card which gets you 2-4-1 on meals and drinks i certain places - so this will help to keep the bills down!
