Hi Tanya! It's great to connect with you! We're getting married amost 1 month after you guys (11.13.10). And YES - we really loved the hotel! GIlberto says the beach reconstruction is going well - I think we'll have a beach by this fall!

THanks for your offer to share scoop on the rates & your agent. As I reas this thread, I noticed you posted a link to your wedding website.... I checked it out - it's terrific! You have so much great info listed & I took a peek at the rates & "inclusions" you have listed. :) I just received my contract from Palace Wedding Dept yesterday & I'm going to see if I can negotiate a lower rate - closer to yours! Wish me luck! :)

ps.... loved your music on the site - I borrowed your idea to have James Taylor sing the first song on ours too. Once ours is complete, I'll post it here as well!

How many peeps do you think you will have? I'm guessing we're about 70-80....

Hi Raychel,

Welcome! We were just in Playa earlier this month (Jan) and did site visits with the Royal/Gran Porto AND the Playacar Palace. We also saw the little chapel on 5th where I'm guessing you plan to have your ceremony - what a great idea!

We chose the Playacar Palace because it's a bit more intimate than the Royal & we liked the contemporary vibe.... PLUS, the wedding promotion with unlimited free events with total guest rooms of 75+ is GREAT! It really is a huge saving! Have you been down there to visit? I took tons of pics, just haven't had the time to load them into a Picasa web album for sharing yet - stay tuned!

I don't think it will be a problem to have your ceremony at the church & then reception at the hotel - I'm sure your contact will give you the scoop. Have to share a fun idea we heard about from a photographer we met in Playa....

He shot a ceremony at the same church where you will be married.... then he said the entire wedding party & guests walked down 5th avenue like a "wedding parade" ... led by a Mariachi Band (and everyone had Maracas).... I thikn they walked all the way to the Royal. We LOVE this idea & you could definately do a shorter "Wedding parade" back to the Playacar Palace! (unfortunately, I'm not Catholic... so this little church isn't an option for us :)

Gsod Luck & let us know what you decide!

Stephanie (& Steve)

Hey Stephanie!

I'm so glad you posted on this thread! Most of the other posts here are fairly old and so I didn't know if this thread would be "revived" any time soon, and I was really wanting to talk to some other girls who are booking with PP.

That would be so great to see photos! I know there are a lot already posted here, but I think you would agree with me that you can never see too many pics to ease your mind! ; ) Especially considering I haven't been there for a site visit, and due to money I probably won't go. I've pretty much made all of my decisions based on what I've heard from this message board, hotel websites, and number calls/emails to Mexico!

Since I posted that message I have been in contact a lot with PP and we are in the final steps of booking with them. They are going to give us the same deal (free private functions and free nights) so it was pretty much a no-brainer for us to book with them. Plus every time I've talked with them or emailed them they have been SO nice and quick to respond. It hasn't been that way with all of the other places I've tried contacting. Planning so far away, I go a LOT off of gut feelings and they definitely made me feel comfortable.

We just got our contract as well, and if you don't mind me asking, what rates are they offering you? We are looking to have about the same number of people (70-80) so it sounds as though we are in kinda the same boat. We may have somewhat different inclusions though, considering we are not having our actual wedding there and I'm assuming you're getting a wedding package through PP?

I've totally seen pics of people doing that "parade" down 5th! It looks so fun! My brothers are playing guitar for our wedding, but I'm sure I could make them learn some Mariachi stuff! ; )

Hello all - Congrats on all your upcoming weddings!

I'm a newbie and considering the PP for my destination wedding. My one concern is that i have heard you are not able to work with the actual wedding planner that is on site until you get to Mexico. Also, are you able to book private events in advance? I have not been to this hotel and am not sure of the wedding reception areas. I would like an outdoor reception near the water - is there an area you are aware of that would work? I am hopeful that with the beach restoration they will allow weddings on the beach ...fingers crossed.

thanks so much for your time!

Hi Sbyron, I have been talking back and forth with the wedding coord for more than 5 months, which would make it more than a year from my wedding date. So that is not true...they will answer any questions that you have and send you all information that you request. You are able to book your private events in advance, actually they encourage it once you sign your wedding contract. I am having my reception in the North Solarium which is right beside the beach. I just sent my WC an email asking about ceremonies on the beach, once the restoration is complete, so I will keep you ladies posted!

RaychelRae- I know how you feel...I was so sick over the whole beach thing after our site visit, I knew there wasnt much beach, but when i was there, there was nothing, then my parents went a few months after us and it was worse. So this is BY FAR the best news. I am just wondering if any of you ladies, heard if they will be performing ceremonies on the beach?
