Ladies,

My Mom called and my Dad is awake after his surgery. He is doing fine. He has been moved to the ICU and will stay there for observation. I guess he is awake, and, because of the drugs, is saying some pretty waky stuff.

He's mainly concerned with missing the last CFL home game tomorrow, so he must be feeling a little bit better.

Francis and I will be going to see him later this afternoon.

We will probably be spending all weekend with my parents, so that my Mom can help my Dad, and give them company.

It's just so scary because once we get older, so do our parents. This year has been so hard on our family: my Mom had a run with possible cancer [luckily it wasn't] plus she was hospitalized for something, I don't know what, it was like a stroke but wasn't. Then, with me, I had my last miscarriage in Febraury, my Grandpa died, and now my Dad is sick. Lastly, Francis' Grandpa died.

It's been tough.

But, thank you everyone so much for being here for me. You have no idea how much it means to me.

Thanks so much.

Heather im so glad your dad got good care and is now on the mend.I think when we know there is a problem with the heart we panic even more, however ive been told by one of the radiologists i work with that heart surgery is very safe, because they are concentrating on it rather than taking there eye of the ball.My mum is waiting to go in for more tests on her heart. She has a heart murmour that wasn fixed as a child and now 20 year to late really for the best prognosis she needs surgery to close the hole.she needs to spend four days in the hospital whilst another surgeon decides if it can be done by keyhole or if she has to have open heart surgery. The thought of things going wrong often enter my head i cant imagine my mum not being around so i most defintly feel your pain.I hope your dads team win tomorrow that would speed his recovery.xx

I'm so glad to hear that things are looking up and your father's surgery went well. It's so scary when we can't do anything but wait to hear news...

Phew. smile36.gif That's quite a difficult year... thank goodness for warm and mushy weddings where everyone gets to come together and celebrate somewhere warm cheer2.gif

Here's wishing you and Francis a wonderful 2009!

Sounds like he will be okay. If they did a procedure, I'm guessing it was an ablation to zap the cells that were firing off the funny beats. If his heart rate got that low, he may need a pacer. Lots of people go through that and are fine afterwards. This is this stuff I see in my ICU a lot. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll try to help. Don't worry too much, sounds like he is in good hands!
