I have around 120 guests booked. Jody's and the other ladies questions cover most of it.

My other concerns are:

1- I would like to know the deadline by which if DT is not open, they will switch me to another hotel.

2- May of my guests did not book through my agent and so I need to let them know so they can get moving to switch their reservation or will the hotel automatically switch everyone if I give them a list of names?

3- What are our choices of other hotels?

Thank you Tammy, I think I can speak for all the brides coming up in the next few weeks, we are loosing a lot of sleep over this and our lives are turning upside down.

My concern is the constant pushback of the reopening. I'd like a clearer defination of what is happening in these legal proceedings if possible. The three times delay in the reopening of the resort puts the brides in a position where they can't make decisions: specifically to switch resorts or for that matter plan any details at all at the new resort.

I sent this letter to the CEO of AM Resorts today via: email, fax and registered mail. I'll let you know if I hear anything back

RE: Dreams Tulum Closure

Dear Mr. Zozaya-Gorostiza-

I am writing to you on behalf of myself as well as the hundreds of other brides who have planned their weddings at your Dreams Tulum Resort in the upcoming months and well into next year.

I am completely disappointed in your resorts communication efforts over the last two weeks. As far as I understand it, the Dreams Tulum Resort was shut down by the Mexican Federal Government on Monday, September 29th. I have received one email from Mr. Gonzalo Del Peon regarding the closing only after I called my travel agent in a fit of panic. I was assured by Mr. Gonzalo that the resort would be open on 10/6/2008. As of yesterday we had information from “the rumor mill†of a 10/13/2008 opening. As I write to your today, Iâ€m hearing 10/16/2008.

I understand that 99% of your guests choose a resort for vacation purposes and have insurance should something unfortunate like this happen. After all, a vacation is a vacation and switching hotels is not that big of a deal for most people. They can always go on another vacation next year.

But for us, it's quite different. This is the most important day of our lives. We spent many hours, days and months researching the best possible place to get married. We chose Dreams Tulum for our special day, a resort that prides itself as the leader in destination weddings. Weâ€ve painstakingly planned these trips for ourselves and our guests. There is no second chance for us; we will not get the opportunity to do this again next year. I think above all else, the brides deserve a little more information that what we are being given.

We are one of the main reasons the resort maintains satisfactory occupancy during your slow seasons. Each one of the weddings planned at your resort secures a minimum of two guests to as many as 250 guests or even more. Sometimes there are three weddings in one day. That to me seems like a large part of your revenue and an even larger reason that we deserve more information with regards to the reopening of the resort.

Finally, my work puts me in daily contact with the executive management teams of over 85 publicly traded companies. In dealing with these people, Iâ€ve learned how they like to receive their information. Short, concise and to the point. We all interact with each other on the premise of “donâ€t waste my time, and I wonâ€t waste yoursâ€. I strongly suggest that you put out a press release with regards to the reopening of the resort. I have an army of emotionally distressed brides ready to release their anger in the forms of daily emails, phone calls and letters to your executive management team.

I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Sincerely,

Amy XXXXX

approx. 45 booked

Most questions I have are expressed above by other would-be Dreams Tulum brides. I am most concerned with understanding the date by which if DT does not open, I would be told I am being moved to another location. Secondly, I have about 10 guests who have recently decided to come to my wedding, but have not been able to book due to the closing... that is about 1/4 of my wedding party. I am afraid that by the time DT is opened it will be "too late" for these guests to book at all.

It is extremely frustrating to know that, had it not been for this forum, I would have NO IDEA that Dreams Tulum is closed, as nobody from the organization has communicated with me or any of my guests, and my wedding is less than 2 months away. I find this very unprofessional. I would feel this way even if I were just vacationing there--let alone having the biggest day of my life at this resort. For all the money we are bringing to the resort, I believe we should be given better treatment. I realize that the closing is somewhat out of DT's control, but reaching out and communicating with guests who are planning weddings there in a matter of months is definitely within their control and absolutely something they should be doing.

To whom it may concern,

Although my wedding is several months away. I am very concerned and frustrated by AM Resorts and its Dreams Chain. The lack of committment to your customers is evidenced by your nonexistent or poor (at best) communication with those who have committed their time and money to patronize your resort.

I have already sent invitations and made travel arrangements for my "Dream" wedding which seems to be turning into a nightmare before my very eyes. It is frustrating planning a destination wedding being so far away from the destination itself, but to have something like this happen is disconcerting.

I would greatly appreciate if the following questions were answered for all of us who have planned to have weddings at Dreams in the future:

1) Can you give a definitive date for the reopening of dreams tulum?

2) For those brides relocating to another resort, will the prices Dreams Tulum gave be honored?

3) How will the new resort accommodate additional weddings being transferred from Dreams Tulum? I'm sure they have weddings already planned as well.

4) Will there be any compensation or discounts for the inconvenience?

5) How far in advance will dreams notify us if our wedding has to be relocated?

6) How can you assure us that this will not happen again in the future (i.e. six months from now)
