Running of the Brides - Cleveland

Anyone headed to the Running of the Brides in Cleveland next Friday? My FI lives there and I planned my trip to visit around this event... LOL.

 

Has anyone been to any previous ROTB and can share stories/advice/experiences?

I went to the one here in DC a couple months ago and it was sooooooooo much fun. I would do it again in a heartbeat. And best of all I found a dress. All I have to say is get there the night before and have as many people go with you as you can. It was well worth it for me. I put my review in this thread below if you want to read it.

I saw a clip of this on a program on tv. I recall that participants planned to stay outdoors waiting in line WELL in advance, went with a group of people who wore similar bright colored shirts.

It's officially one day away! I'm really excited now for some reason! Hopefully I find "the one."

I didn't wait outside overnight. I got there about 11:00 am and there were still a ton of dresses. I didn't find one for myself. I also didn't have anyone with me which would have been a big help. But the place was a mess!

There was a Friends episode on t.v. last night where they were in a running of the brides. FI got really interested... I think he FINALLY gets it. He turned to me and said "We should go photograph that"! LOL

Really? I thought I had seen all the Friends episodes ever made but I don't think I've seen that one!

I went out and I found the dress! I ended up going late because my sisters got lost driving down. I didn't get there until 9:45. When I got there I saw "the dress" on another chick and she was walking around it and talking about how much she loved it so I thought it was a lost cause. My sisters and I then went to go find other choices. I found this great Pronovias gown and was almost going to get it but I decided to take another look around. I found some more dresses to try and when I got back to my corner/dressing room I saw a pile of fabric on the floor, turns out, it's "the dress!" I was like "no way!" Tried it on and loved it! It was EXACTLY what I was looking for.

 

I feel like it was meant to be since had we gotten there any earlier, I probably wouldn't have gotten to try it on since that other chick was clinging to it. I was initially so disappointed that we were late and was thinking we weren't going find anything but we got there right at the point that all the early birds where putting their rejects back.

 

The atmosphere was very calm and I actually had several people hand me dresses to try that were too small for their brides. I ended up paying $249! The Pronovias I almost got was $499 so that had a little to do with me going with the other dress. I am going to try to get photos but my sisters have gone back home so all I have now is a phone cam pic of me holding the dress to tighten it since it is definitely too big.
