FI and I started ttc over a year ago. We had no luck. Recently I had horrible stomach pains (turned out to be kidney stones) but in the process of trying to figure out what was wrong I was told I had a cyst on my left ovary.

It is pretty simple to get rid of. Birth control is very effective in removing them, I know about 6 women who all took birthcontrol to remove cysts and every single one of them ended up pregnant within two months or so.

Since I found out about the cyst we have become engaged. Now I'm in a situation of do I still try and forget the wedding or do I wait and go ahead with the wedding? Our wedding is in jan. of next year. It seems like we have waited a lifetime (anyone ttc surely understands this) and I don't want to wait any longer. But I would either be giving birth around the time we are planning the wedding or I would be pregnant. So I'm a little confused.

I told FI the other night I had something to show him and he rushed home so excited. He thought I was pregnant but I just wanted to show him a bookmark I made. lol.

We are both ready to start a family. so I really don't know what to do.

How long do you have to be on BC? If you could hold off TTC a few months you could always get married while pregnant. So, if you hold off until say July you would only be like six months prego when you got married. I know the wait feels like forever but I promise as soon as the baby gets here you will forget how long you waited.

Regarding the $$ situation and TTC, I completely understand the stress. Although DH and don't have any debt besides our 2 houses, babies are still really expensive and $$ is in the back of our minds. We are already trying to have a second baby, and even though we know we would be financially ok, it's still expensive. With Matt, most of our $$ goes to his formula (almost $200 monthly) and babysitting ($500 monthly).

However, one thing I realized now that I have a baby, you spend a lot less on yourself. I use to shop all the time and since I've had Matt, I can't remember the last time I went out to buy anything for myself. Plus, my DH and I go out a lot less so the $$ situation kind of evens out. Your mind set will change with a baby because even though you're spending a lot of $$ on your baby, he/she is worth every single penny and you won't feel like you are missing out on those expensive jeans you are use to buying or taking a fancy vacation. I'm not sure how explain, but some how you just make it work.

I hope this helps a little for those of you who are worried about this.

My doctor put me on BC for three months, but never diagnosed me with cysts. This was a few weeks after we returned from our HM- (after we got back, I had a period that literally lasted 6 weeks). I will say that I haven't had bad pms and have had lighter periods since stopping the BC, but still no bebeh. We've been ttc seriously since I went off BC, 3 months. I was going to give it another 3 months until I go back to the doctor, since my doctor didn't seem overly concerned on my last visit.
At the same time, it's hard to not to be discouraged. Everyone talks like getting pregnant is easy, like once you start TTC it's just going to happen. Yeah, I'm not so sure it will be. Also I keep getting it in my head that it's better to not try, in case it doesn't ever happen, then we don't have to face that kind of disappointment... I don't know if that makes sense, but it pops in my head from time to time...

There is so much that goes into getting pregnant it's amazing how many people get suprise pregnancies! You have to try to not be discouraged because it can take time. You can do everything right on the day you ovulate and still no baby. Hang in there and stay positive that you will have a baby in your arms soon enough. And there are so many medical options that can help you conceive if necessary. Good luck and baby dust to you!

Thanks for the encouragement, andrea :) Everything you said is true, and goes along with the a lot of the other posts on this thread. It's nice to look at the beginning of this thread and see all the women that were ttc and now have cute baby pics in their siggys! Definitely keeps my hopes up.

last summer my boyfriend and i were TTC. We just figured we could get married anytime and there was no rush to spend that much money on one day. Well, around Thanksgiving both of our mom's told us that they'd pay for our wedding so we had to stop trying or else we couldn't get married in the summer in Mexico! I've been off of my bc since september we've had to be sooo careful but we're going to start trying again in June! Hopefully with me being off my bc for a year it will be a lot easier to conceive.

I teach in a school district with no maternity leave and we're really trying to time the baby for next summer but who knows... these things aren't really up to us, are they?
