 Hi Karen and everyone!

I met my fiance on Match.com as well! At the time I was like "what the heck am I doing, he better not be crazy" but when I met him I knew he was someone special, we talked for hours and he is the most loving, smart, funny, sweet, cutest guy I have ever met :) I think alot of it is timing and luck, and I guess someone was looking out for me that moment I met him! :) 2.5 years later he proposed. If it was not for match I most likely would have never met him!

My fiance and I met on JDate, well, sort of...back in '07 we had an initial connection on JDate, but since he wasn't a full paying member, it was difficult to make a connection, so I stalked him out on Myspace (had his name and the city he lived in) and instead of scaring him off, he was impressed by my abilities ;)  We chatted online for a few days, talked on the phone for a few more, and had an immediate connection from the first date and have been together ever since. Met in October '07, engaged in May '10, going to be married in April '11.  I tried other dating sites and they just weren't for me.

My Fiance and I did meet on Plenty of Fish... after a lot of duds, he wrote and was my last shot if anything. After the first date, i was sure it was not going anywhere, same after the second, third... lol. I told him he had the mold factor, he grew on me. NOW we are getting married on April 11th... :)

My Fiance and I met on Plenty of Fish as well.  We had met on there about 5 years ago and added each other to MSN (which was all the rage at the time haha)  We chatted on there for a few months before losing touch.  About 3 years later he sent me an email one day asking how I was and we decided to meet.  And now we are getting married!!

It's so cool to hear all these stories about people meeting online.

My fiance and I met online as well, on Facebook. Ha ha! Funny that we met shortly after someone said to me that Facebook was becoming a "hook-up" site, and I said, "Yeah right.....I don't think so." We messaged on FB, then moved over to MSN chat, then phone. Then we met a couple of months later and he swept me off my feet. And almost two years later we've gotten engaged and are getting married next year! I couldn't be happier! love.gif

Me and my fiance met online too :) Not on a dating site though, just a message board. We were friends for about 5 years, just friends. Then I was on holiday in America with my family, staying with friends, and was told I could use their phone to call up my friend as we'd never really spoken, other than on webcam which was pretty glitchy. Well we talked on the phone for hours every day for the next 2 weeks! My parents finally decided this was getting silly, we clearly liked eachother, we needed to give it a go. Either we'd get it out of our system, or we'd find true love, either way, we needed to try. So they invited him over for Christmas, they flew him over as my "big present" (really big it turns out, he's a foot taller than me!). We hit it off IMMEDIATELY, we were already really close from chatting online, I already considered him my best friend, and I'm not ashamed to say I was already head over heels for the guy.

The real deal was even better :) He was gorgeous, charming, funny, a total hit with all my friends and family, and definite hit with me :) We acted like we were dating his whole trip, but it wasn't "official" as he'd been in a long distance relationship previously and really didn't want another one. This wasn't good enough for me :P So I finally bullied him into dating me "officially" a few weeks after he left! We dated for almost 2 years (and lived together nearly 1 year) when we got engaged :) We'll be getting married mid-Feb next year, almost a month after our 2 year anniversary :)

A lot of people give us funny looks when we say we met online. Which I'm not surprised, there are real nutcases out there, you have to be really careful meeting someone online. My whole family escorted me to the airport that first time we met incase he was some 40 year old rapist! I don't know how they thought he would have faked webcams and phonecalls, but you can't be too careful!! :)

Little Princess- I love your story of how you met!  I get a lot of weird looks when I tell people we met online!  Where I work, there are many people who have met their husband or future husbands online so I don't seem to get as many funny looks!

Thank you JayKay, yours is very sweet :) MSN is great :P

We fell in and out of touch a few times while we were just friends, mostly my fault as I was young and selfish and didn't have "time" to be online, but I always weasled my way back into his good graces!! For most of the time we were friends he had a major crush on me, but I had a boyfriend, then we broke up but he had a girlfriend! After they broke up he had a love interest in his home town which made me SOOO jealous, and made me realise ... hey...I like this guy as more than a friend...oh no!! But thankfully that fell through :) I invited him over while he was interested in this other girl, and I absolutely swore that if they had a chance then I wouldn't make a move on him, I won't move in on another girls guy. It fell through a few months before he flew out - perfect timing all around :) It did help that I got a little drunk one night and blurted out over MSN (how you can blurt things out online, I'll never know, but I did!!) that I was "hopelessly in love" with him. He teased me about that mercilessly which really hurt my feelings, but he later admitted he was so touched, but he just didn't know what to say!

I believe in fate and destiny, and that everything happens for a reason. I think that our previous relationships were to teach us lessons in how to be a good partner (ie, what not to do!!), and to keep us busy until we were in a place where we could give it a go. If we tried when we were like...15, it wouldn't have worked as we'd have school and no money! Then his love interest was to make me realise how much I liked him. Not only did the jealousy make me realise I liked him, I also realised that if they had a chance, I'd be happy for him because he was happy, which made me realise how strongly I liked him (to me, love should strive to be selfless).

I didn't meet my FI online but we were a blind date.  My great friend saw him working at her gym and her bubbly self asked if he was single and would he be willing to go on a blind date.  I had been single for over a year (after a very long - 7 yr relationship) and was not exactly the best at dating.  I decided to meet him and it was the best unexpecting thing I would ever do.  We dated for almost a year and I broke up with him...I think I was scared and not sure if I was ready to be in such a committed relationship.  Oddly, we remained friends and hung out occassionally...we were like best friends.  We went on a group ski trip and got back together December 2008.  This time I know he is the one and am so thankful to my friend for finding me my love and best bud!

I met my baby online... on a site called Christian Mingle.. I hate the name, but I gotta tell you, it was great :)

FI tells everyone we met on Fbook 'cause that's where we actually started talking, and it sounds better, but it's not soooo !
