STD or Invitations?

I will be having my wedding in Las Vegas in July 2009. We are not inviting a lot of people to attend and will probably have about 15-20 come to celebrate with us. My question is: Do I need to send out Save the Date cards and invitations since I know the people that will be attending? I need some advice, please help.

I sent out STD's to everyone because I didn't want to hear any nonsense about why someone didn't get invited, even if I knew that the person was not going. Then based on the responses to the STD's, I started to figure out who would get an invitation. Basically, when it came time to put down deposits, I pretty much knew who was in & who was out. Then I just sent invitations to those people. That saved me time & money.

So maybe send the STD's out, so that people know the basic info, and then send the invites out to the people that you know are coming.

That's what I'm doing. But if you're wedding is going to be that small, then I think it's okay to not send STD to others because it's already so small prob. just lots of family. I think what will be better is after the wedding, sent a little announcement card saying you two just tied the knot, and in some other words basically state sorry you couldn't invite them, it was meant to be a small wedding. but of course in nicer terminology. Hehee and congrats!!

Thank you both for the advice. I believe I will be sending out STD's to everyone and then more information to those that I know will be attending.

I don't think you should send the STDs to everyone because that means they will be expecting an invitation and not get one. I think you should just send out invitations and STDs to those you really want to come and then send out announcements afterwards.
