Recommended Posts

  • 1 year later...

I just purchased 100 lanterns for an unbeleiveable (or at least i think so) price of 300.00!!  i got 20 30" lanterns  40 24" lanterns 20 18'lanterns and 20 16" lanterns  i've checked online and the larger ones can cost over 10.00 each...soo i'm pretty happy..they have yet to arrive so i dont know how they are physically but i'm sure they are great..i found the seller on bravo bride and she sells new lanterns not used..p.s the $300 included delivery as well..soo not a bad deal...after reading the post about throwies..i've decided i will make my own lighting as well...i think it will look amazing..

I bought 50 paper lanterns, All white and 10inch. I would have bought nylon ,but I didn't want to invest in the money. I first bought the electrical cords with light bulbs, but the lanterns didn't hook on to them well. I was going to experiment with different types of electrical cords, but then I thought they might not have electrical outlets were I want to have my reception so I bought battery lights for the lanterns.

They work great, and I can hang out the lanterns with fish string. No worrying about electrical cords.

The battery lights listed below are MUCH cheaper then buying the ones they recommend on lantern sites. The ones below costed me about $12.

Sara...do they actually put out any light though?   Our experience is that most "LED" type lights will barely put out any light at all..If the ambient lights are somewhat strong, then the lanterns will not pop...

Test.   Try one, use your camera (turn off your flash).   hang the lantern, light a few candles in the room, put the camera on a table and aim at the lantern... see what happens.  Are they brightly lit compared to the background light?

sounds crazy, just my idea of testing it..

Thanks for the heads up Matt! I will defiantly try this, this weekend and post the results, I might need you to tell me whether it worked or not. I know you guys have amazing cameras and not sure what will work the best with them.

I might try a picture with one battery light, and 2 battery lights to judge the increase in brightness.

Also, I got the lights on overstock.com. I will just do a search for whats on the package label.

I found them a little cheap online at Ben Franklins, but I believe the shipping was more. So I guess it depends on how many you need. After talking with Matt. I got twice as many as I needed. I am going to put two in each lantern. Brightens them up alot. My fiance is an engineer. He said that if they die, you can get replacement batterys for them really really cheap. I am going to use them for my AHR as well.
