Pre Marital Counseling?

Just an update, the counseling is going good. It wasn't odd at all and it gives us a chance to talk things over in a different way then before. It also helped us to deal with the crazy behavior of the FILs. My childhood pastor gave wonderful advice that if we focus on each other, they will eventually grow around us. I thought that was pretty neat. The book we use is called, "Before you say I do" by Wes Roberts. While we don't go to deep into the scripture, we touch on it a little.

We did the pre-cana day last week at a church. It was one day (8-5) but for what they call "convalidated couples" meaning you live together or are already civilly married. We actually enjoyed it. We've lived together for 6 years so a beginner type class would have bored us. One funny moment was when they asked us to write down the most money we would feel comfortable spending without first consulting our spouse and then share and discuss amongst the two of us. Turns out FI wouldn't spend more than $50 without telling me first while I am totally comfortable spending $350 and telling him after the fact. Stuff like that comes up. It's fun to discuss and it never would have come up sitting around the house. Enjoy!
