i was just wondering if the site visit was really necessary. it seems like it would require a lot of money we don't really have right now. the pictures of the destination look great, and i've heard some wonderful things about the it, but it seems everyone's doing site visits! have any of you booked without a site visit? those who are married and didn't do a site visit - did it work out for you?

thanks for your help!

sidenote: it is ridiculous how much time i've spent on bdw this week! i've been sick and therefore absent from life. i've spent practically all day in my bed on bdw. could i be anymore lame? smile116.gif

Site visits aren't necessary at all, as long as you're comfortable with just seeing photos and reading reviews. We were given two nights free at our location because we had booked our week's stay and had guests coming too. We just had to pay for air fare which we found a good deal on at the time. We were able to meet with our DJ, do a cake tasting, and meet with both coordinators. We also took time to meet with our photographer and have engagement photos (also had hair/makeup trial at the hotel) done so we crammed in a lot in a short amount of time.

If your location is popular, reviews and pics from other girls are a great resource. Remember, many destination brides make ALL plans with the coordinators when they arrive a few days before their wedding..it's something they're used to dealing with. It's us crazy brides that want it all in writing and all T's crossed before we go! :)

AND I was married last year and I still spend a majority of my day on this site so no, you aren't lame. Especially when you first start planning.. there's soooo much information here that's helpful.

I will not be able to do a site visit. My TA just took a trip to my resort again, so I will be getting some photos from her soon.

I am just having to trust that...I wish I could do a site visit, it just isn't feasible for me.

I will arrive 3 days before my wedding to meet with the WC at the resort though.

Good luck!!

Hubby & I did not do a site visit & everything worked out wonderfully. A site visit was not in our budget at all.

I did all of my research online and paid lots of attention to reviews. The fact that there were BDW brides who posted pics & reviews of the resort, greatly influenced my decision to chose it in the first place.

Even though we made our decision, we were still nervous about it right up till the day that we arrived at the resort. But once we walked into the lobby, we knew that we made the right decision and were very relieved. Our guests loved every moment & I would not have changed a thing!

No site visit here either. I don't think it's really something 1 we could have afforded and 2 we had an idea on what we wanted and our TA went with it. I couldn't be happier with where we chose since it really what we wanted.. 45 days left for me and like any bride with soo little time left I am racking my brain like CRAZY!!

We also are going to be in Jamaica for 3 days before the wedding so anything else I didn't get done now with the WC will be finished once we meet with her.

we didnt do a site visit - we didnt really want to spend the extra $ and we didn't have the vacation time to do it (no way was i flying to cabo just for a weekend to check the place out with the cost of airline tickets from chicago to cabo). everything worked out perfectly. we had the best time, and everything was beautiful. the key is communication with the staff at your venue so they know what you want. my WC had a binder with all my requests when i arrived in cabo 3 days in advance of our wedding, and went over every little detail with me to make sure everything she had was correct.

do i wish i coulda done a site visit? hell yeah, who doesnt want another vacation! but was it necessary, absolutely not.

I didn't do a site visit either and feel very comfortable with that. The brides' reviews and information shared via the forum have been *extremely* helpful in making decisions. It would have been great if I could sit down w/ the wc coordinators and ask my millions of questions though. But, if you are ok w/ email and phone communication w/ your wcs then you'll be good to go! Oh and we are arriving at the resort 3 days before the wedding to go over final details and relax!

Do you have a few locations in mind? Let us know if we can help!
