OK, I've been following the more recent posts on this thread for a while, and one thing I have yet to see is anyone really reporting tangible results, either in the form of actual weight loss or inches. I just put in an order to Amazon to get it, but I am still pretty skeptical as to whether it will work for me or not. The main reason is that it is only 27 minutes long, including warmup, cooldown and stretch. So at the very most, doing it once will only burn 200 calories, so I am guessing that I am going to have to do another workout to actually lose any weight/fat.

Since you have to create a 3600 calorie deficit to lose one pound, that means that if you only do this workout and eat a maintenence diet, you will only lose one pound per 18 days, even if you do it every day. To me, that's hardly a "30-day Shred".

I have to also say that I already workout 5-6 times a week for at least 40 minutes per session, and do a combo of weight lifting, aerobics, and running. Will this DVD actually do anything for someone who is already reasonably accustomed to working out? - it seems that the best results will go to people who don't already exercise regularly.

I have always exercised regularly and have been a pretty heavy athlete all my life. I do the DVD every day and I do another work out at least 3 days a week. I also stick to a pretty good 1200 calorie/day diet. That being said, I hit my plateau a couple of weeks before trying the DVD. I couldn't lose anymore weight and was getting frustrated. Since starting the DVD a week and a half ago I've lost 2 more pounds and have noticed more definition.

IMHO ~If you are already toned or don't need to lose more than a pound or two I would say that the DVD won't do too much for you other than help maintain.
A lot of people that have been starting it are the "skinny-flabby" and while pounds don't come off the toning of the "flabby" has been happening.

Hope that helps...

drTracy - Many thanks for your post. Exactly the kind of response I was hoping for. I struggle with plateaus and set-points (my biggest problems!) so I hope adding this to my rotation will help break me out of it. Will try to keep you all posted on my results and progress!

You've made a lot of good points. I use this workout to supplement my cardio workouts. I wouldn't expect that the shred workout alone would cause me to lose weight. Since I already workout a ton, the key for me to losing weight is actually diet.

The reason I really like this workout is the combo of cardio and weightlifting. It totally changes the dymanic of working out, and it took my normal routine to a new level. I promise you will be sweating, panting, and cursing at Jillian! It's much easier for me to get on the treadmill and run for 30 minutes than it is do a level 2 or 3 workout. I think you will find it beneficial even though you are currently conditioned to working out.

As for results, one of my friends noticed more defintion in my arms last night. I hope this helps you out!

Thanks for the post, Mel&B! I think that what I will end up doing is just using this DVD as an "add-in" to my normal routine to give my body the shock that it needs to get off my plateau. I figure that even at the minimum, I should be able to work off an extra 200 calories, and that by itself will help, if I can find the time to work this in on top of my regular routine. In any case, I am looking forward to giving this a try!
