Cindy, I'm excited for you! It will be just like the pics- a wonderful place to unwind in a spectaculary beautiful setting. I have one more piece of advise I forgot to give you. If you go into Sayulita for dinner, you will have to get a cab back to PE fairly early, like 10:00 or 11:00. After that, cab service stops. It's one of the joys of a small town.

As for myself, I changed my honemoon reso yesterday from Dreams Villamagna to Riu Palace Pacifico. I know that Dreams will be fab sometime soon, but most people that stayed there had some valid issues. The Riu is already operating at full speed and seems to be pretty awesome! I just want to lay under an umbrella and drink cocktails all day. I think it will be perfect.

Smith, I'd love to hear about the places your TA recommends!

Oh, ladies I have to share one review I read on Trip Advisor. I apologize if anyone on this forum wrote it, but it had me in stiches. The title of the review was, "Honeymoon Ruined." Why was it ruined? Because they had to bathe with bubble bath one night instead of soap. It took a few hours for the staff to bring soap to the room. Also, the plate of chocolate covered strawberries said "Happy Anniversary" on it instead of something about the honeymoon. These two things ruined their entire trip!!!

We're staying at Casa Amorita (bed and breakfast in PV) for our honeymoon. Check out the site:

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Bed and Breakfast Inn - Casa Amorita - Puerto Vallarta Lodging - Introduction

Also the reviews on trip advisor are amazing and Rita the owner is a pleasure to deal with.

Just know it usually fills up quickly so if you decide to book you'll need to make a quick decision!!!

Since we are staying with all of our guests in Nuevo Vallarta at Vallarta Palace I am kinda leaning towards the premiere so can spend some time in downtown PV.

  • 2 weeks later...

Funny thing - since I wrote that we were going to go outside of PV for our honeymoon since we just would have spent a week there for the wedding, we realized that we wanted to stay! We realized that after a week at a big all-inclusive, hanging out at the pool and beach, that we'd want to be able to get out more to explore, eat at restaurants, and be more active. So going to a secluded place fell off our list. But, here is the list of the places me TA sent us when we wanted something romantic and secluded. They look amazing and are all within a couple hours of PV. Here's what she said:

Las Alamandas - VERY private, exclusive, secluded, small (30 guests max) wonderful resort.. on the coast 2 hrs south of PV. Made up of 6 villas beautifully and individually decorated (by the owner Isabel Goldsmith) on 4 beaches w/gardens, lakes, lagoons, bird sanctuary. You can have an entire villa, or a section of it, but all have private entrance. Large terraces w/hammocks. Living room/dining areas have wide screen TV and sound system. Bathrooms have double sinks, large tubs, shower, bidet. Colorful - both the interiors & the sweet-smelling flowers that are everywhere. Nice pool, tennis, fitness center, horses, mountain bikes, fishing, bird watching. I spent several days here in May and Las Alamandas is now my very favorite hotel in all Mexico!! Service and food excellent. www.lasalamandas.com

El Tamarindo - 5 star recently renovated small bungalow-style exclusive resort 30 miles north of Manzanillo. 29 luxury units in the trees, gardens, or on the ocean with the finest linens and amenities, all w/private terrace & plunge pool. In the Ocean Casitas (which have private plunge pool & outdoor jacuzzi), you can adjust the sliding screened doors to hear and/or see the ocean while you sleep! Flat scree TV, music system, large baths. Impeccable service and food. 18-hole championship golf course w/breathtaking ocean views. Bird watching, tennis, spa w/Temazcal. http://www.ycwtamarindo.com/

Majahuitas - Accessible by boat (20min ride), 13 miles south of PV. Totally remote on private beach. 7 open-air casitas with luxury service & amenities. Mostly solar powered, artesian well water, fresh fish and local natural foods. Hiking, sea-kayaks, snorkeling (sea turtles, rays, dolphins), horseback riding.

Processing....

Hotelito Desconocido - REALLY back to nature. The only over water bungalow-style casitas (like Tahiti) in Mexico. 60 miles south of PV. 30 "palafitos" along lagoon and beachfront w/terrace, dock & row boat, ceiling fans, open-air showers. Perfect place for the right people... very wrong for others. Eat from daily changing menu of fresh fish, veggies, fruits, beef, seafood - all local and natural. index

Hope that helps someone. Now we're off searching for something in PV!
